For Prabal on his beautiful collection “Fragmented Memories”; There’s a saying “to kill a beast you must first make it beautiful” – about how there is pain and ugliness and trauma in our lives but you can never surmount it by just fighting against it and holding onto anger. You have to make your own peace with it. Take an ugly thing – and transform it by imbuing it with the grace, power, love, and generosity within you – so that the darkness can no longer have power over you. This is what your collection literally embodies. You have taken something heartbreaking, difficult, traumatic and tragic in your life and made it beautiful. And as we wore your pieces – you shared that beauty with us and the world. You wrapped us in your story. So we were both cloaked within it and emanating it to the world. Such is the power of your mind and soul and artistry. So thank you for sharing this beauty with me and everyone whose lives you and your creations touch. It was truly an honor, my friend.
