I absolutely adored her. She was a truly phenomenal woman with an incredibly witty sense of humour, an impeccable style and love of bold colours, and she had the kindest heart I’ve ever known. Whoever you were, she would instinctively hold your hand within 5 seconds of you sitting down with her. When she held your hand she would always comment on how cold they were before following that with a smile and “You know what they say about people with cold hands? Cold hands, warm heart”. She was one of those people who did life exactly how you’re meant to do it. Fully, with a sense of humour, fierce determination, and a flat-out refusal to be told she couldn’t do something. She was my Nanna, but to be honest she was a best mate as well. She gave me so much over the years; endless advice, life motto’s, jokes, tips, and catchphrases which I’ll pass on to my grandchildren one day. She taught me how to tell the time. She told me to never bother with people who are unkind. Ever. She let me use her landline to vote for One Direction to win X Factor because “they seem like nice boys”. She was just the best. To spend a minute with this woman was a hoot, so to have had thirty years with her as my Nanna was the treat of a lifetime. I’ll miss her so much, but every time I hold someone’s cold hands I’ll think of the woman with the warmest heart. Dorothy Adam 24.01.1930 – 24.02.2024 ❤️ 1.
