Melissa King Instagram – Look Ma, I’m on CNN talking about the Lunar New Year! 🤯🧧🐉 My younger self would never have imagined sharing the foods and traditions of my culture on this level. As a Chinese American, I was the little kid embarrassed of my lunchbox of mom’s leftovers. I would celebrate all the festive moments of Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year on the weekend — wearing red, making and eating way too many dumplings, collecting red envelopes, visiting every relative I never knew I had, only to return to elementary school the next day without saying a damn word about it. My worlds felt so distinctly separate. I’m so honored to have this opportunity to speak about these incredible foods and traditions deeply rooted in an identity I’m so proud of today, and I hope you are of yours as well!
