2023- The Year of Our Books. As my last post of ‘23 I submit this short clip from the short documentary “The ABC’s of Book Banning” of all the atrocities horrors we faced this year, this hits on an ancestral future level it is a threat to not only history humanity but our imagination, our very imagination. For those of us who love books, who write books, who need books to survive this is a danger that reaches back forward. There was a time in this country when it was both unlawful unsafe for Black people to read. And now there are some who wish to spread this virus of fear of information indepent thinking to all children. Books are a record of our existence. I’m grateful to the great OG @thesheilanevins who with her directorial debut made this for @mtvdocs (#Oscar shortlisted) and other warriors like @kimberlecrenshaw @nikolehannahjones who used their media might to stand up for our literary legacy liberation. In 2024 we will write. We will create buy books and our children will read and imagine their own brave new world. 📚
