Kumar Shahani was invited to direct the diploma film of Nandini Bedi, then an editing student at FTII. Vaar Vaar Vaari is a brilliant Shahani-esque exploration of the machine-nature dichotomy and the female desire, through the lens of the mythical. There’s the lover in its various forms, a caged black swan, the sea, the sakhi, music. And it is exquisitely shot.
