A New Year to think, or to rethink…. I saved this talk that I insisted Govind re record for my camera, on his birthday… It seems so perfect for a New Year Post… It is a call for the collective consciousness to come into being…in the words of Govind..no one can say it better than he…. I as an actress have over the years wondered what it is we put out into the collective consciousness when we engage with the projects we do, take up the roles that we do….and that is why I have often given up a film or an OTT or a role, even when I desperately needed the work…. I admire Govind because he is always thinking (and has always has thought) of the larger context… And yes, P.S: While we are taking inspiration and remaking the films from the South of India it is Govind’s (original, and scripted by him) ‘Drohkaal’ that was taken up by the venerable Mr Kamal Hassan and remade in Tamil…. Govind clearly speaks from his personal experience and his caring generous heart for the life path he, so many of us, have chosen His concerns are always at the core of my other two wonderful directors as well, Kumar Shahani and the late but eternal Mani kaul …
