Naomie Harris Instagram – In 2013, a few hours before the start of the #MetGala, my “date” was unable to go with me and I was forced to attend the most prestigious fashion event in the world on my own. I was absolutely petrified. Just as I was entering the event a lady with a friendly face said “I like your dress!” I immediately pounced on the opening and explained that I was at the event on my own. She said “come and join my group of friends! We’ll keep you company”and the rest, as they say, is history! @naseebs always the friendliest, warmest, most welcoming face in any room, has been my friend ever since, taking me on adventures all around the world, and opening my eyes to experiences and possibilities in life that I would have never known if it wasn’t for her. As I return from yet another incredible adventure with this amazing, warm hearted soul, (this time in Colombia & Costa Rica) I’m reflecting not just on her kindness and generosity but the importance for us all to take risks and step outside of our comfort zones. If I hadn’t forced myself to step out of mine and go to the Met event alone I would probably never have met @naseebs and therefore never had the gift of her friendship, love, guidance and all the adventures we’ve shared together. I’m also reflecting on how offering the gift of kindness to someone hugely impacts not just the other person but our own lives in ways we can’t foresee.
