Tess Holliday Instagram – If you’ve been following me for a long time, you know how much I loved my sweet MawMaw. I knew this day would come, but it just rips my heart out to write this. You were the Matriach of our family, the wittiest person I’ve ever met, & one of the smartest. A true Mississippi woman who loved getting your hair done every Friday, always had gospel music playing, credited @avoninsider skincare for your flawless skin, & made the best food you could ever imagine. My love language is chicken & dumplings because of you. Garfield & hummingbirds surrounded the walls & shelves of your home, & I knew inside those walls, I was safe. You helped mom raise my brother & I, taught me to shell peas, to be kind, sew & crochet… the list goes on & boy am I glad I was taking notes. I count myself fortunate that I got as much time with you as I did. There aren’t many people that are my age who get to know their grandparents the way I did. You got to see me live my dreams, have babies, & model for JcPenney, a real highlight for you lol I remember when you visited me in LA, it was the first time you had been on a plane outside of the south. When you realized I didn’t have a crock pot or proper set of knives, you were appalled & marched me down to Target (again appalled there wasn’t a Walmart close to us) & bought them for me. You’re the last grandparent I’m saying goodbye to, and it’s by far the hardest. Losing someone to dementia is by far one of the cruelest goodbyes, & I really thought I mourned you years ago, but grief is an ocean, not a wave. I will carry you with me always because after all, I’m a product of you & your teachings. I will always love you. If y’all see someone in a Jeep blasting @vincegillofficial in Los Angeles today, it was definitely me. Give your grandparents a hug for me today.
