The Blessed Madonna Instagram - Last year, the musical friends I trust most yelled at me because I wasn’t playing my own records. If you felt a cringe, that’s me dying inside! Playing my own music felt like letting a whole nightclub read my diary. But I listened to the people more confident than me, and started workshopping my album in progress (yes you heard me right) in front of all of you. It was a big personal revelation and a kind of creative intimacy that freed me from a lot of my own hang ups. Thanks, Godsquad and extended family for letting me find my way with you. One song broke out: HAPPIER. I tweaked it for months. Being able to see how HAPPIER worked or didn’t, how it moved your bodies, when you learned the words? It was hugely encouraging for me. Here it is in Brooklyn @elsewherespace. So if you came to my shows, you were voting for the best version of HAPPIER with your feet and you were freeing me from my own creative bullshit. HAPPIER belongs to you! HAPPIER also truly belongs to @clementinetunes who is the powerhouse at the center of every bit of it. And on February 2nd HAPPIER belongs to everyone. 😢

She was kind enough to make this record with me and @joyanonymous. Now, I believe in the age of spiritual machines. I know that soul thrives in a 909 kick drum, maybe even more easily than it does than some humans. But the soul, the sweat, the heartbreak: we have to let that out of ourselves and carry it higher where other people can hear it. “Carry Me Higher” is a record that is carved around the force of Danielle Ponder. She is the mountain, we just put up scaffolding around it and invited you in to witness. This record only exists because of what was in her heart and because of what her voice did to our hearts. When I saw this video, I cried. Don’t you want something more? All respect to all creators, but I still want to go deeper and higher. And this is it for me. This is the way.

This baby in particular which he surprised me with. 3) Cowboys. 4) A basic perfect Spanish breakfast near the sea in the off season. 5) Milk perfumes: This is not sponsored. I am just fully addicted to smelling like an expensive, sexy cookie. 🍪 6) Cheese. This is the greatest display of cheese in my entire life. I peaked as a human on this day. 7) I finally got to be home for Christmas and to see It’s A Wonderful life in the theater. We held hands and cried like always and it finally felt like Christmas again. 8) A nap with my dog who is definitely a lap dog and not too big to fit there. 9) ass AND tiddies 10) Not reading the comments!
