The Blessed Madonna Instagram – Last year, the musical friends I trust most yelled at me because I wasn’t playing my own records. If you felt a cringe, that’s me dying inside! Playing my own music felt like letting a whole nightclub read my diary. But I listened to the people more confident than me, and started workshopping my album in progress (yes you heard me right) in front of all of you. It was a big personal revelation and a kind of creative intimacy that freed me from a lot of my own hang ups. Thanks, Godsquad and extended family for letting me find my way with you. One song broke out: HAPPIER. I tweaked it for months. Being able to see how HAPPIER worked or didn’t, how it moved your bodies, when you learned the words? It was hugely encouraging for me. Here it is in Brooklyn @elsewherespace. So if you came to my shows, you were voting for the best version of HAPPIER with your feet and you were freeing me from my own creative bullshit. HAPPIER belongs to you! HAPPIER also truly belongs to @clementinetunes who is the powerhouse at the center of every bit of it. And on February 2nd HAPPIER belongs to everyone. 😢
