Amy Bailey Instagram - If I wasn’t an actress, I’d be a midwife. 💥💥💥💥💥💥 I have endless respect and admiration for those women (and the occasional man!) who dedicate their lives to providing safe births, be they at home or assisted in hospital. These modern day magicians 🧙🏼‍♀️🔮 are under attack right now...insurance is difficult to obtain, rendering them unable to work professionally. Midwives often provide a birthing mother with the education and patient care that a busy hospital staff is unable to give. I wholeheartedly support #independentmidwives and champion their incomparable wisdom. Midwifery is an endangered vocation, one that we as mothers cannot afford to lose. It is because of my brilliant independent midwives, especially the very dedicated Andy Parker, that I had successful home births with all 3 of my babies (including twins, one of whom was breech). I was given the freedom and information I needed to feel relaxed and confident. I believe however a woman chooses to birth, she will have made that decision with no coercion, bullying, or subjugation to someone else’s convenience, profit, or protocol. 🙌 Please check out the hard work that @when.pushcomestoshove is doing to support independent midwives. It will make a birth nerd like me very happy 🤓💜

Any other film industry folks out there getting excited for September? 🙋🏻‍♀️ That’s traditionally when summer hiatus ends and creatives get back into the joyful grind of making cool stuff 🎬✍️🎥📺. Like the rest of the world, our industry has been at a standstill, but projects are slowly rumbling back to life and trust me, there are SO MANY awesome things brewing! Amy Bailey Instagram - I auditioned for a film recently that required me to dig up my old tap shoes and pound out some time-steps for the casting director. Because of 😷 (😠) I had to do a selftape in our living room at night after the kids went to bed. Weirdly, my bipedal cacophony didn’t wake the baby, but our 5 year old twins did come downstairs wondering what the holy hell was happening. I started off annoyed at myself that I couldn’t remember routines and kept missing beats, but then I realised my kids have never really seen me dance before. They know mom & dad “used to be dancers” but they don’t fully yet understand our 15+ year dance careers B.C. (before children). They watched patiently while I worked through some steps, and then when I was finished they bolted up and began imitating me. Allegra even tried on “mom’s funny up-shoes” (high heel taps) while Atticus stomped and spun and asked us if we had ever seen a kid do such fast moves (we replied, “NEVER!!”...😉). Later, I went to bed - already sore, lord help me - feeling so lucky to have called myself a dancer. It wasn’t until I had retired that I truly appreciated what an incredibly difficult and magnificent career it is. Here are a handful of pics I dug up from the ancient files. Between the two of us, @miniateam and I have a LOT of dance photos. Now please excuse me while I hobble away to get more tiger balm onto these gams o’ mine... 💃🏻🩰🕺🏻

(So I’m borrowing a throwback Halloween #BlackSwan pic from the amazing detective that is Laura who runs @amybaileyfans ...she finds so many pics I’ve never even seen!😅 We are driving home from a much-needed break from city life. We breathed fresh cold forest air and tromped in our wellie boots through muddy fields full of cow pies. We were wind-whipped by the icy sea on a Jurassic Coast. Seems like a lot of places are going back into dreaded lockdown, England included, and it makes me even more thankful for the nature and space and freedom of movement we just had. These are strange times...hard to understand...some might even say, SPOOKY.🤔🤔 So hold on tight everybody: speak your good spells tonight and conjure up happy spirits —- cuz lord knows we all need that 🌎🌍🌏💜🔮

You have to pace yourself to not get too full too fast, you have to do the same thing so you have good continuity for edits, you have to make sure you don’t crunch too loud or get stuff stuck in your teeth. Plus the food gets very, shall we say, sweaty 💦after many hours under hot set lights. Big kudos to the set dressers and props on this one - it was exquisitely detailed and the food was kept edible for us take after take after take… 😜 Swipe to video where you can hear my demands for more matzah. I grew up on the warm Gulf Coast of Texas where the sea is still big, but somehow warm and languid even in its ferocity. I miss the smell of it. Might retire to the sea one day if life permits. Various left turns and several closed cafés later (#tinytexastown) we finally found a local Mexican joint that juuust so happened to serve my 2nd favourite breakfast beverage. Folks, if you’ve never treated your mama to migas and beeritas on a Sunday morning, you haven’t done her right. Afterwards we drove slooowly in the heat to see if our 2 year old might take the nap he refused earlier. No chance. He asked us to turn up the radio. Now we are home. The hubby is passed out and the twins are enjoying their sacred hour-of-minecraft-on-the-weekend time. It has taken me a full 20mins to post this as aforementioned 2 year old is jumping on my torso and shouting “Mama let’s play monster trucks!” So I’m off this nefarious phone contraption and back to the ones who matter most 🥰 Love to all! These modern day magicians 🧙🏼‍♀️🔮 are under attack right now...insurance is difficult to obtain, rendering them unable to work professionally. Midwives often provide a birthing mother with the education and patient care that a busy hospital staff is unable to give. I wholeheartedly support #independentmidwives and champion their incomparable wisdom. Midwifery is an endangered vocation, one that we as mothers cannot afford to lose. It is because of my brilliant independent midwives, especially the very dedicated Andy Parker, that I had successful home births with all 3 of my babies (including twins, one of whom was breech). I was given the freedom and information I needed to feel relaxed and confident. I believe however a woman chooses to birth, she will have made that decision with no coercion, bullying, or subjugation to someone else’s convenience, profit, or protocol. 🙌 Please check out the hard work that @when.pushcomestoshove is doing to support independent midwives. It is because of my brilliant independent midwives, especially the very dedicated Andy Parker, that I had successful home births with all 3 of my babies (including twins, one of whom was breech). I was given the freedom and information I needed to feel relaxed and confident. Because of 😷 (😠) I had to do a selftape in our living room at night after the kids went to bed. They watched patiently while I worked through some steps, and then when I was finished they bolted up and began imitating me. Allegra even tried on “mom’s funny up-shoes” (high heel taps) while Atticus stomped and spun and asked us if we had ever seen a kid do such fast moves (we replied, “NEVER!!”...😉). Later, I went to bed - already sore, lord help me - feeling so lucky to have called myself a dancer. It wasn’t until I had retired that I truly appreciated what an incredibly difficult and magnificent career it is. Here are a handful of pics I dug up from the ancient files.
