Allegra Bird, nicknamed Freckles, joined the freckles on her skin dot-to-dot as a child and now as an adult she’s still trying to join the dots in her life. She hears the expression, “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with” and she instantly examines the five people in her life and what their characters say about her. Not entirely satisfied, she realises she can choose a specific set of five people that she admires and thereby reshape herself.

It’s about a lot of things, mainly; identity, loneliness, human connection. Life, love, the universe. Out now and I hope you love it ❤️

Cecelia Ahern Instagram - This is my favourite novel I’ve ever written. My heart is embossed on every page. I wanted to write about what it’s like to be empathetic and highly sensitive - and for those who don’t quite understand it, I chose to convey emotions & moods as colours.

This is about a woman named Alice who sees people’s moods, emotions, energies in the form of colours around their bodies. The colours have characters and personalities, sometimes they twirl, swirl, spit. Sometimes they’re metallic, sometimes they’re a mist. Every colour represents a different emotion and each shade has its own meaning. They are multi-layered just as people are and understanding them is like learning a new language.

Not only can Alice know how people are feeling by looking at them but if and when the colours touch Alice then she can feel exactly how people are feeling too.

It’s a very emotional story about Alice as she tries to navigate her own life while deeply feeling the hopes, fears, dreams, pain, passion and love of everyone around her. How can she carve out her own path when she’s easily overwhelmed by everyone else around her…

‘In A Thousand Different Ways’ is out now. Cecelia Ahern Instagram - My latest novel FRECKLES is out now and I can’t thank you enough for the incredible response to this book.

My main character, Allegra, nicknamed Freckles is from Valentia Island in Co. Kerry and moves to Dublin. The novel is partly set in Valentia Island, and though Kerry is my spirit home, I took a little research trip while I was writing it a few years ago, to walk in Allegra’s shoes.

What was it like for her returning home? What was her view? How did it sound? How did it smell? I feel, see, hear and smell when I write so I like to experience it for real before or during the process. I always believe if I can see it then I can write it, living it is even better.

Here’s a few pics and videos of Allegra’s home and the car ferry she worked on, all day every day watching the Knightstown red clock tower on the pier as she came and went, wondering about where else the world can take her and where she can find her place to fit in… 💖

I told you I’d do it and I did it. After training with the Irish School of Motoring I’m very proud to announce that I can now drive a ROPPT (Ride on Power Pallet Truck).

So now I will ask the lovely people at the warehouses the question again…. @eason_ireland @argosybooks @bookstationireland CAN I PLEASE DRIVE YOUR FORKLIFT??

Huge thanks to the wonderful instructors in Irish School of Motoring. John Doran Sr and John Doran Jr trained me and put me through my paces and I had a brilliant day out. If you need a forklift driver to do a perfect figure of 8 forwards, backwards, with or without a pallet, I’m your woman. Now I can drive my own pallet of books, sign them, sit on them, stand on them, dance around them before sending them out to all of you lovely readers.

You’ve got to turn that NO into a YES!!! 👊👷‍♀️

From childhood to her final days, Alice has to learn how to live her own life while feeling everybody else’s love, pain, suffering, dreams, hopes and desires too. Can she turn what she considers a burden into a gift?

It was an emotional experience and I loved every second of writing it, I hope you enjoy reading it. 💚

Martin Black, the lovely manager of Easons O’Connell St at the time, had a room filled with sandwiches and cakes beforehand. I had never even been to a book signing before and had no idea what to expect but I remember the queue was out the door and down the street and I was so nervous I could barely speak. I think it shows in my face.

My mom, sister and now mother-in-law were there, and my husband’s Nana Lucy got the bus in for the big day. Emotional now remembering it. So many supportive people. Terrifying day, but a big day and it makes me smile today. ❤️
