FORCED TO CANCEL UPCOMING TOUR DATES DUE TO ILLNESS

Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires have spent the majority of 2016 on the road in support of Bradley’s latest album Changes. They have had to cancel several shows recently due to health concerns and now, we regret to announce that Charles' doctors have discovered a cancerous tumor in his stomach. Upcoming tour dates will be canceled, as he needs to take time off for treatment and recovery.
The 67-year old soul singer has always been a fighter and is determined to come back stronger and with even more love to give.
Statement From Charles Bradley -- "In the past few months, I have had to cancel a number of shows due to illness, taking me away from my beautiful fans.
My doctors recently discovered a cancerous tumor in my stomach.
I'm getting the best medical care and we are all extremely optimistic. I will fight through this like I've fought through the many other obstacles in my life.
My upcoming tour dates will be postponed so I can concentrate on healing.
Thank you all for understanding. Music is how I share my love with the world, and the love that my fans have given back brings me so much joy. I look forward to seeing your gorgeous faces soon, and to continue to share my love through music."

Charles Bradley Instagram - Available November 22nd (digital only) - The Black Velvet Instrumentals featuring two new tracks by @menahanstreetband as a tribute to Charles Bradley, "Tommy Don't" and "There's A New Day Coming”. Listen and pre-order via link in bio.

Originally recorded as a single backing track for Charles Bradley, the tune was ultimately shelved (like many other tracks) after Charles' passing. After some time had gone by the reel made its way back onto the tape machine and producer Tommy TNT Brenneck had a eureka moment. He split the track into two sides and wrote some lyrics for the slower portion as a tribute to CB, which became "There's a New Day Coming". He loved the juxtaposition of having the slower, heavy tribute on side A, and the upbeat, lighter track on the flip. When singers, Saundra Williams (Saun & Starr) & Alecia Chakour showed up for the session TNT played them what was to become "Tommy Don't". While it was playing Saun said "You know why I like working with you, Tommy? Cause you don't overthink shit". And with that Saun started singing "Tommy don't overthink shit." Brenneck started cracking up and said, "We HAVE to record that.". And with that...Voila! 45 single will be available everywhere on November 22nd.
Random color vinyl copies of the 45 will be available at the Daptone shop at 10am EST, November 22nd.

It was nothing short of magic recording what would become Charles Bradley’s debut album No Time For Dreaming in a bedroom on 250 Menahan street many years ago. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since it’s release. I had set up a humble recording situation consisting of a 1/2” 8 track tape machine and an sm58. For years in between tours with Sharon, Budos, El Michels, Lee, Amy, etc I would record as much music as possible at the crib. At some point I invited Charles over and played him what would become Menahan Street Bands debut Make The Road By Walking. He loved the music which meant the world to me and instantly asked if he could sing on it.

True story: The first time he came to that apartment i played him the instrumental of The World Going Up In Flames. He immediately asked for a mic and started singing. Within the hour we recorded the vocals to it. After that he would come back once or twice a month to share stories of his life which we would turn into songs. The next song we wrote was “Heartaches & Pain”. You couldn’t ask for a more honest and raw record. No frills. He believed Art was a reflection of suffering and that’s what he spoke about in his lyrics. But by addressing the ugly truths of the world that he had experienced first hand, he in turn made a statement full of hope.

Caption : This month marks the 10th anniversary of the release of Charles Bradley’s debut album, No Time For Dreaming, and we’re sharing some words from producer and songwriter, Thomas Brenneck. ・・・ It was nothing short of magic recording what would become Charles Bradley’s debut album No Time For Dreaming in a bedroom on 250 Menahan street many years ago. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since it’s release. I had set up a humble recording situation consisting of a 1/2” 8 track tape machine and an sm58. For years in between tours with Sharon, Budos, El Michels, Lee, Amy, etc I would record as much music as possible at the crib. At some point I invited Charles over and played him what would become Menahan Street Bands debut Make The Road By Walking. He loved the music which meant the world to me and instantly asked if he could sing on it.
