Caption : This guy. Do you recognize him? This is a young man, dying inside, looking for some outside influence to heal the inside forces of dark despair. What I found was that nothing – drugs, alcohol, or even a porn ‘stache, could relieve the internal hurts of a past that had no father, money or stable place to live. Was beaten to a pulp by peers, kidnapped by a serial pedophile. Lotta aches on the resume. At 12, the alcohol consumption, beginning with gulping any booze I could steal in liquor cabinets, poured into Mason Jars, a concoction I called “Weasel Piss.” Drugs were added to the menu in 9th grade – pot, acid, coke, meth…whatever I found to numb the pain of past & present. Overdosed in Jamaica, died, hovering over my body until revived. Committed countess crimes, motivated by a hate for rich people. Robbery, vandalism, sold stolen goods. I always wanted more. I was a more whore. Did comedy beginning in high school, but no laughs could halt the anguish. Tried to take my own life. On Nov 20, 1987, I found life. It’s the day I stopped all mind altering substances. I surrendered. Now victorious, in more ways than this kid, who paid someone to take his SAT’s, could have imagined. Success beyond dreams, but the greatest achievement is the self discovery of the man I was destined to be. Freedom! Caption : Last night, a guest of @thekennyloggins – his final shows of a stellar 55 career. So surreal. Was often moved, thinking back to when I was a kid in comedy, and this music master took me on tour w/him, back when communication was pen/paper/pay phones, and high tech was a smoke machine! I suddenly went from playing smoky clubs (yes kids, REAL stink-smoke, not vape), traveling w/a crew & band, a huge departure from the solo destination dash of a standup comic. A tour manager, and a group of guys to play with, try out material. When we hit the Neil Simon Theatre, a band member became ill, Kenny asked me to learn the bass notes over dinner, and I sang backup for a week on Broadway! Crazy… Amazing concert last night, w/all the hits. Such a prolific writer, gifted vocalist. I believe he belongs in the songwriters Hall of Fame. Countless hit songs. Google it. There are 80s soundtrack hits like, “I’m Alright,” and “Footloose,” but much more. Celebrate Me Home was ethereal astounding last night. I’d like to plant seeds here. Caption : 6 wks ago we rescued Buffy from a local shelter. She was in there for several months, longest of any dog. Can’t imagine the PTSD an animal must have, when locked in a cement cage, surrounded by 24/7 barking. We were there for an hour and it drove me insane. I would have spilled secrets to the enemies if I had to be there longer! Buffy bonded w/me & my younger kids, Jackson & Chloe, as if we were meant to be a family all along, apparently scripted by a love/light source/force of magnificent destiny. In other words – she licks, then sticks, now part of the Shoemaker mix. Considering the upheaval me & the children have been forced to manage, I’m not sure if it’s Buffy or us who was rescued. This pic was taken just now, me reclined, doing some work one-handed, the other extending TLC to our sweet, beautiful girl. Caption : Many of you donated to LaughterHeals.org on my birthday. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. With the money raised, me and my children, Jackson and Chloe, went grocery shopping. Not for us! L O L. It was for food for a man who is barely hanging on. Comedians do not have pensions, a union or organization that supports these independent artists. It seems insane to me that the people who bring Laughter to the world, are generally cast aside and not acknowledged. people are quicker to cancel a comedian for a joke they don’t get, than they are to give a glowing review or pass the word around about a comedian they enjoy. Stanley Ullman performed standup for over three decades, supplying countless laughs, but now, due to poor health, he cannot get up on another stage. On Thanksgiving day, me and the children brought him foods and goods. More to come, but I wanted to let you know that your donation put a smile on his face, and assuaged his anxiety. Caption : A long career has led to a diverse list of venues, including a coupla bowling alleys, a pizza parlor and even Harrison Ford’s former back yard lap pool. Played 7 people to 70,000, and everything in between. Broadway, Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Universal Amphitheater and the Greek. 4 US presidents at once, opened in arenas for Beach Boys, Ray Charles, @thekennyloggins, even sang backup for Kenny in a pinch. Bachelor parties, frats, countless basements. An attic, porch and bingo hall. Festivals, county fairs; corporate meetings, classrooms. A bat mitzvah, sweet 16, many a retirement dinner. Summer of ‘22 – @davechappelle ‘s cornfield in Ohio. But, last night, minutes away from Dave’s, I had a first. Performed at a minor league hockey rink! Yup. Fund raiser for the awesome Shriners, set up by all-star Dayton real estate agent, @remax_bryanogletree – President/high priest, of the Shriners local chapter. Judi is my former manager, tops in the biz. Smarter, more creative than most in Hollywood, produced my Daditude special, now on AmazonPrime. Met new colleagues too, @amircomedy and we told fish stories w fish we caught pics, like whipping out dicks at a porn shoot. Walked the red carpet, with most behind cameras saying about me- “who the fu*k is this guy?” So much fun.
