Danny Robertshaw Instagram - ADOPTED! Our stunning Great Pyrenees, SAMPSON, (left) met the perfect family during our adoption event at the Aiken Fall Classic Horse Show. Pat Runewitsch has a Great Pyr already, so instant family!

Sampson came to Danny & Ron's Rescue after he was found as a stray in the Summer of 2021. He's been through a few homes and has had some training --- finally, he's in a home with Great Pyr experience!

Danny Robertshaw Instagram - RUSTY arrived at Danny & Ron's Rescue in October 2016 after a harrowing rescue on the Florida Turnpike. A good samaritan spotted him stuck between the concrete barriers dividing the highway and unable to cross in either direction. It is a testament to his "cool guy" demeanor that he remained calm enough to accept a stranger's help to safety.

In 2016, we guessed his age to be about 5 years old. This photo was taken upon his arrival at Danny & Ron's Rescue, all bright-eyed and curious. At first, he was a bit persnickety about being around other dogs and was always a flight risk. So we took our time trying to find him the right home. Meanwhile, he remained at The Doghouse, learned to love (most) other dogs, and wormed his way into our hearts. 7 years later, he was still a part of our Doghouse crew. Rusty let us know he'd found his home.

Rusty seemed to be aging quickly, slowing down, and we could see he was in pain, which we had been treating with pain meds. But today, he felt particularly punky, so we took him for another checkup with "Dr. Matt" at Camden Veterinary Hospital. An MRI confirmed our worst suspicion: he was riddled with cancerous tumors. We made the heartwrenching decision to put him at ease, surrounded by some of his favorite Danny & Ron's Rescue staff members.

Rest in Peace, sweet boy. We'll catch up with you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

Danny Robertshaw Instagram - ADOPTED! Perfect little PRETTY GIRL (Now named "Priti") flew all the way from SC to Michigan last night to meet her forever people! Congratulations to Siddharth and Kumud Sanghvi on the new sweet addition to their family!

Pretty Girl came to Danny & Ron's Rescue in June, along with 8 other Maltese/Poodle mixes saved from the same hoarding situation. All dogs arrived in poor shape and needed grooming, veterinary care, and lots of love.

Danny Robertshaw Instagram - HEARTWORM KILLS!

These four friends* just arrived at The Doghouse, all suffering from heartworm disease. They never received the inexpensive monthly heartworm prevention that could have saved them from a disease that would surely kill them if left untreated. Their owner was ill, and her family surrendered her dogs to our local shelter, where Danny & Ron's Rescue saved them together, as a family.

Danny & Ron's Rescue is currently caring for 21 dogs while they go through a 4-month treatment program for heartworm. One month of doxycycline, followed by 3 painful injections, all while enduring strict crate rest for 4 months, with only hand-walking for exercise. Recovery is tough on the dogs and exhausting for our staff, but we do not give up on these precious pups!

In addition to the specific veterinary fees for heartworm treatment, there are expenses for routine vaccinations, dental, deworming, microchipping, exceptional dog food and nutrition, and grooming. Plus, extra staff to care for and leash-walk 21 dogs at least 3 times daily for 4 months! You can see how the overall expense to care for EACH dog nears $3,500.

You can then understand why most rescues avoid taking on the added expense of heartworm treatment and the months it takes to complete the process. We would be grateful if you could find it in your heart to donate towards our heartworm treatment program. Even $10 helps us!

Danny Robertshaw Instagram - This sweet puppy was spotted by a Good Samaritan cowering on the side of a country road in South Carolina, abandoned and in pain. Just 4 months old, WRINKLES is now in the care of Danny & Ron’s Rescue and is being treated for demodex mange, parasites, malnutrition, and heaven knows what else our vet will diagnose. We can only guess, so we will wait for the final vet report and keep you updated.

Once this sweet boy is healthy he will be up for adoption, but this will require months of TLC and vet care. Could you find it in your heart to donate toward his vet care? No donation amount is too small and every dollar counts toward helping Wrinkles and other dogs like him!

Danny Robertshaw Instagram - HAVEN is the lucky dog chosen 3 months ago to be trained as a service dog and companion for Carolanne, a beautiful young lady going through chemotherapy treatments for mouth cancer. Our good friend, John Martino (insta: @bewareofdogzz) trained and then delivered Haven to Carolanne in Chicago last week; these are photos of their first meeting.

"About three months ago I got a call from a friend of mine in Chicago. He asked me how he could get a service dog for his niece who has been diagnosed with cancer and how much it would cost. I volunteered to rescue a dog and to do all the training and get it certified so the dog could accompany her through this horrific ordeal. It’s the second dog I have trained for a child diagnosed with cancer. I can honestly say the hardest thing in my life to date was walking into the oncology center for children. It was so absolutely heart-wrenching. I’ve been blessed with being very successful in my career and living a good life. Going into a facility like that really humbles you and makes you reevaluate what’s really important in life." John Martino.

Danny Robertshaw - 1K Likes - (Camden, SC) 🐶 In the middle of her "Freedom Ride" from Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Control & Care last night, our pregnant passenger decided it was time to go into labor!

SUSIE, a 2-year-old Border Terrier mix, must have sensed she was "safe" and began giving birth in our transport vehicle. We made it to The Doghouse, where Danny & Ron's Rescue staff members helped to deliver seven healthy puppies -- 3 girls and 4 boys.

Susie looks quite pleased with herself, doesn't she?! We will post photo updates of her little family as they prepare to find new homes in mid-February.
