Caption : Ahead of tomorrow’s potential vote, here is my statement: Many constituents and others have been asking me about tomorrow’s amendment in the House of Commons, regarding a ceasefire. I would like to confirm, I will be voting in favour of a ceasefire on both sides. I have been calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire on both sides for many weeks and the release of all hostages. I remain clear that a ceasefire is the only way to protect civilians, and the only way towards achieving peace in the region.Likes : 1790

This means the Deputy PM should be investigated for breaching the ministerial code. Today I’ve written to the Prime Minister – will he take action? Here’s my letter to the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. The Prime Minister is the ultimate arbiter of the ministerial code, so he must take action. We can’t let the Tories get away with lying to the House or the country – please help me spread the word!Likes : 868

Joint Enterprise has been wrongly interpreted by judges for 30 years and @jengba_ have been doing a lot of great work on the injustices of joint enterprise. 15 years ago my constituent Mr Davis spent two months in prison due to Joint Enterprise. His crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It has had a devastating impact on his and his families lives. If you are Black you are: 1️⃣6️⃣ times more likely to be charged under Join Enterprise 8️⃣ times more likely to be stopped and searched if you are Black. 5️⃣ times more likely to die in police custody. He is disrespecting @commons_speaker , House of Commons and the country. According to the ministerial code, the Deputy PM should now resign!Likes : 295

Caption : I have news ☺ It was a huge honour to be the UK representative at the Congressional Black Caucus (@TheBlackCaucus) legislative conference in Washington, DC. It was a whirlwind. It got me thinking about what needs to happen at @UKLabour conference. Here’s some highlights 👇🏾🧵 It took time to process this incredible experience. Thousands of people attended, so being the sole 🇬🇧 delegate was a very proud moment. I met people from around the world, with a shared vision for a fairer & equitable world. Collaboration is vital to tackle global challenges🤝 ⚠ Advancements in artificial intelligence makes discussions around equity urgent. I spoke at length on bias the real risks of AI automating discrimination & bias. If we’re not careful the marginalised will be further marginalised. And some may manipulate AI to their advantage. I was invited to join an Intl. panel to discuss anti-racism and diversity legislation & initiatives. I stressed the importance of working on a global scale to dismantle unfair inequalities that exist globally. As Edmund Burke said ‘When bad men combine, the good must associate’ We must use our voices to call out governments, at home or abroad, who stoke hate and division. This Government here in the UK has shown that they are willing to make our country less safe by promoting hate. So the good amongst us must associate and unite. I also spoke on the importance of no longer willing to debate whether racism exits. It is now time to urgently work on solutions. For those still in first gear, it is time to change gears and put your foot on the pedal. I noted how the @UN condemned the UK Government-backed Race Report for attempting to ‘normalise white supremacy’. My message is clear – racism and prejudice is bad for everyone, not just for Black & brown people. The historic @WhiteHouse tour was a fitting end. A reminder that power without a good purpose is worthless. We didn’t enjoy the rain, but did enjoy the fantastic band that greeted us! 🥁 I even got to say hi to my favourite president & first lady, @BarackObama @MichelleObama😉 I was honoured to meet many extraordinary and distinguished Congress men & women.Likes : 273

Shocking how they are trying to control our democracy: 1️⃣ Introduced Voter ID 2️⃣ Change donation and spending rules 3️⃣ Influence the Electoral Commission directly All because Boris was told to pay for his own wallpaper.
