Me at 16 years old. That’s my uncle Wally. I’m wearing a Sid viscous t shirt and creepers. I was so proud of those creepers. Fun fact: my mom is one of 12 siblings… my mom’s name Ollie, her sister’s is my aunt Polly, this is my uncle Wally and I have a sister named Hollie. Ollie, Polly, Wally and Hollie.. thanks Oklahoma ! My uncle many year ago used to hang out at Caines ballroom in Tulsa.. so great we got to play there and see where Sid punched in a wall… the world comes full circle. That’s a beautiful thing Rodeo Ca
I was reluctant about sharing this post because it’s heart breaking. This is my uncle Little Jay Jackson. My mom’s youngest brother and the youngest of her 12 siblings. He was in the army. A green beret I believe.. He died in action in the vietnam war sometime around the Tet offensive. He served with honor and that’s something I can respect. I never met him but by all accounts he was a great brother and loving father. And a great young athlete. He was pretty close in age to my brother Alan who had the one relationship with him out of all my brothers and sisters. I just watched the Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam which is an amazing documentary. I highly recommend it. It made me curious to look him up. His name up is on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall of names. Someday I want to check it out. War is terrifying. I have memories of my aunts and uncles talking about him pretty openly .. I love this photo of him feeding a baby deer. His name really is Little Jay Jackson by the way

Ok last one for now. 1st photo is Polly and mom. Probably one of my favorite photos of them ever working together at Mel’s drive in. They wore roller skates car hops. 2nd photo is my mom and her sisters again 3rd photo is my mom and aunt Polly. Total dolls. 4th photo is my dad and a couple of his friends. I remember Art longpre , Lucky Sprinkle is a mystery. Very “wise guys” vibe. Sometimes I think my dad had a bit of a sordid past.. if you got pals named Lucky Sprinkle. Just sayin. 5th photo is Tre, aunt Polly and my sister Hollie goofing off. Polly was her god mother 6th photo is aunt Polly bowling! 7th photo is my mom’s bowling team 8th photo is aunt Polly and me with my first bike I got at her duplex in El cerrito . You can see a photo in the background of her and my uncle John Urone. Right side of that photo is her son my cousin Mitch Martinez. Last photo is Mike Polly and me at my wedding. Around 87 I remember Mike and I went to Klamath river with a bunch of my family. He had Polly laughing in hysterics the whole time telling funny Mike anecdotes Richmond, California

Hello lady bug 🐞❤️
First photo is mom and dad in the late 1950s . They eloped in Reno. I think more people should elope in Reno. Rumor has it my dad learned to play drums to Fats domino records. 2nd photo is my grandfather (bottom second from left) he got a job as a welder during ww2. That’s how my family ended up in California from Oklahoma during the war effort. I THINK that’s my grandmother in the middle second row. Not sure though. My cousin has grandma’s welders license. Pretty bad ass.. I don’t think my grandfather adapted to well in California.. they were called okies which was a slur back in those days. Obviously there are much worse slurs to be called… if it wasn’t for the move my parents would never have met 😊 3rd photo for something completely different. me smoking a giant joint on stage the first time Green Day was in Amsterdam 1991 Richmond, California

My uncles Bill, Ewing , and Wally Jackson. my mom’s older brothers. they look like they’re gonna break someone’s legs, rob a bank, or going to church. A lot of my friend’s parents are baby boomers. My parents were the generation before. What they call the “silent generation”.. and these fellas were the “greatest generation”.. all served in ww2.. definitely not hippies. I always love the old photos. They looked sharp . My dad wore zoot suits and listened to jazz. Definitely not tie-dye or incense and peppermint 😂 Sperry, Oklahoma
