Chris Hardwick Instagram – Hey I made a thing! 8 episodes of it! “Up For Auction” will start streaming on @TheCW app on Feb. 8. This show was an absolute blast. As a collector of pop culture props and stuff I’ve been to or watched many an entertainment auction. Obviously, it’s fascinating to see what the big ticket items sell for, but I love seeing items that go for about as much as a video game because I know that that piece of memorabilia has some special significance to the person who bought it. In the case of Disney park items, those things are wrapped in stories that were very likely some of the most cherished memories in someone’s life. When @vegallery told me that they were about to put up the largest Disney collection from a single collector, I knew I wanted to see if we could document the process. So we did! I pitched the idea to and partnered with @brianvolkweiss (who was a great podcast guest a while back) and @nacelle who did the fantastic shows “The Toys/Movies That Made Us” at @netflix and Disney ’s “Behind the Attraction.” There’s so much fun stuff in this show that involves amazing historical park pieces, PLENTY of great Disneyana factoids, and how an auction of this magnitude even works. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!!
