I’ve turned down a flood of interviews over the past week or so. The requests have been pouring in and I hear its a great opportunity to “grow my reach”… but that’s not a motivator for me. I’ve got to protect my mental health. More than that, I dont trust mainstream media to allow us to really tell our story. I understand crisis sells, but I don’t want to engage if they won’t call me to also celebrate Haiti’s wins. I wont engage if they just want to guide the conversation into soundbites that will haunt Haiti, long after this crisis ends.
With that being said, one of the only journalists I trust to tell our story is Vladimir Duthiers. Although it’s short, his summary today was excellent. My favorite summary from a journalist so far, he packed so many great points in there. I’ve enjoyed hearing from academics and experts such as Dr. Jemima Pierre and Jake Johnston, but this response by Vladimir Duthiers is the best summary from a main stream media personality.
