Introducing Them’s latest cover stars, or rather, cover companions: Julio Torres and Tilda Swinton. Through the film “Problemista,” a surreal A24 comedy about an aspiring toymaker from El Salvador who navigates many of the same struggles immigrants face everyday in New York City, the two co-stars forged a friendship that is a sort of hall-of-mirrors version of their on-screen duo. Thank you powerful atheist queen! I first witnessed the greatness of Cecilia last summer during @fransquishco ‘s Doll Invasion in Fire Island. Then @pileoftears invited me to her brilliant one woman show, Red Ink, which left me absolutely enamored. I wish I had gotten to know her. She was just one of those people that stay with you. A truly exhilarating and life-giving presence who made the world a better place. I write this hoping that those who may not know her will look her up feel her light, and because it feels in-line with community-minded Cecilia. She made you want to live an honest, exciting and imperfect life. Celebrate your friends and welcome others into your joy. I’m making her out to sound like a saint but rest assured she was a proud puta divina.
