Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday. . I find a similarity between “failing” and “falling”. Rising, ascending, great heights are all synonymous with success. So naturally, Slipping, tripping, descending, crashing, are all used in describing failure. Maybe you feel “on top of the world” or maybe you’ve “hit rock bottom”. It’s so tied to our understanding of up and down. I’ve come to enjoy it. Purely because there is no up and down in space. Which is where we are. Floating about all spherical and earth-like. We made it up. It’s purely relative. To me that means that “failure” is whatever you decide it is. The same way people decide which way they think is up depending on where they are on earth. . I remember when I first arrived in LA. I had no idea what I was doing. I met a captain of a small street performing crew randomly on the sidewalk. He didn’t believe that I could do a back flip. So I did one. Then he did one. It was like a handshake. I showed him some tumbling videos so he’d know I was legit and then he invited me to perform with him on Venice beach. We would tumble on the asphalt in between the shops and the beach where all the tourists would walk by. I wrapped torn strips of cloth from a shirt I bought from goodwill around my hands to keep the gravel from sticking into my palms when I did tumbling passes. On the weekends they taught me how to front-flip over people. I eventually got the hang of it. I did about six shows a day and always had a headache from the head rush you get from tumbling excessively. I made enough money to buy lunch for my friends on occasion. No conclusion really. My ideal Car would be an electric UHaul-sized container truck so that I could have an office in it. Sometimes I wish trespassing wasn’t so illegal so that I could practice running across rooftops like a teenage mutant ninja turtle. I also wish @ups had a more cohesive and straight forward insurance claim policy. Korean bbq places make me happy because there’s so much food on the table and also sad because I can’t finish it all. At any one time I’m kinda sort of reading like 8 or 9 books. Remembering one of my favorite moments filming season 3 of the Path. Was an incredibly inspiring day. These guys sang for about 3 hours straight and never once faltered or lost any of the energy and power. Each time they sang ,everyone on set was moved. Over and over again. And I can still watch this video over and over again without getting sick of the song. Anyway. It needed to be shared. #thepath
