Nicholas Kristof Instagram – There is so much pain and war and suffering around the world, so many reasons to despair — but let’s not lose sight of what we can achieve when we work together to ease that suffering. My year-end column notes that global child mortality appears to have set a new low this year of 3.6 percent of children dying by age five. One million fewer kids died in 2023 than in 2016. Global extreme poverty also hit a new low, with 100,000 people exiting poverty each day.
