One thing is certain, the sound of this recording is rich and beautiful! It’s not always possible to record on tape, but with this incredible live band, and two great engineers we pulled off the whole record in 3 days. I’ve been playing music with Yuka Honda since 1996 when I played bass in her band Cibo Matto. Then she produced my first album, Into The Sun. I feel so lucky to have such a long time friend and collaborator. She truly played amazing electronic sounds, took this record into deep space. Michael Leonhart I’ve also made a lot of great records with. And he was also a regular member of the Plastic Ono Band that I music directed for my mother. Many of these songs were written with Michael in mind. He has the touch, but also the mind of a producer. He picked the best take for Heliopause. Have a listen and you’ll hear it. The vibe was there Also I have to thank John Zorn for encouraging me to make this music. And I’d like to thank @nelscline for giving me the courage to play the lead guitar parts when @jlage was unable to make the session. And thank you to David Newgarden and @jakerabrams my managers for making sure we get her done! 🙏🏻 Also special thank you to @johnny_mathar for playing the drums on Thinking of M. Devin Hoff is not just an incredible musician all around (check out their band with Ches ‘Good For Cows.’) but they’re also one of the sweetest humans I’ve ever met. Mauro Refosco is one of the best Brazilian percussionists in the world. His instruments were absolutely essential for the groove of this album. He was so free and precise and loose at the same time. Very grateful for what he played.
