My GrandMa used to pray to the fire & offer a small piece of dough and say, “protect my son’s hands”.
It somehow made me feel safe. 🥹
Today, all my kitchen champions were blessed by this ritual. Jai Ho!

We recently celebrated a fire ceremony at @bungalowny, an ancient tradition of worshipping Agni (The Fire God) before the cooking begins.
Because there is no other element as pure as Agni which cooks the food.
Here is the recipe of the prasad that I cooked.
1 cup ghee
2 tablespoons chopped cashews
2 tablespoons chopped almonds
1 cup coarse atta (Indian whole wheat flour)
1 cup jaggery (grated)
2 1/2 cups water
10-12 cardamom pods, crushed
Generous pinch of saffron

Shabana ji was calmly waiting for the shot setup at a community kitchen where we were shooting in the outskirts of Amritsar. (Gurudwara Shri Tahla Sahib)
And I suddenly realized that the shot looked more artistic through the fence.

Every single moment of shooting Shabana ji for the past 6 years…..my heart kept thinking…..

A moment filled with excitement & honor to represent India to the World’s largest stage – New York.
When I had to share the screen with @amitabhbachchan for #JourneyOfIndianCuisine, I learnt one thing from him……Indian Cuisine is all about emotions.
