First day, sophomore year in high school.
As you’ll read in my memoir, this smiling teenage girl didn’t know that two months after this photo was taken, the foundation of her life would fall apart. Four decades later, the adult woman in the next photo knows that stability and security can be illusions and that a foundation is sturdiest when it’s built from within.
Either way, I think we can all agree on the timeless awesomeness of a puffy-shoulder shirt.
