How many people did it take to physically get me to the Oscars?
– 2 amazing publicists working their butts off for a year long press campaign
– 1 makeup artist, 1 hair stylist, 1 nail artist, and 1 social media manager making me look awake and alive
– the best stylist in the biz
– 2 Versace seamstresses physically getting me into the dress (who cried happy tears when they saw me in it π)
– 1 lawyer whose been by my side for 22 years
– 2 college best friends with over 20 years experience of providing me emotional support
-2 agents and 1 mentor cheering me on constantly
– 1 former publicist/manager and now lifetime champion/hype-woman who knows exactly how to get me smiling and dancing
– and 1 amazing rock of a husband who will fix my train on the red carpet and then dance with me till 5:30am

πA year of Barbie Press looks! I feel so lucky to have gone through this year with you @karlawelchstylist – not only because you know fashion like no other but because youβre smart as hell, you give a damn, and you donβt just put clothes on bodies- you amplify peopleβs charm, sexiness, confidence strength and power. I love you. We really had the best time while slaying!! And thank you @jamiespradley & @gracewrightsell for all the care and good vibes! Love you both! Iβve forgotten how to put my own pants on!
Taking part in a little humanity can do a lot for our broken hearts. I was so glad to help hand out 700 winter coats at a shelter for asylum seekers in New York City this week.
Iβm grateful to the asylum seekers who shared their experiences with us. Many of them are families and individuals fleeing persecution from their governments, running from gangs that threaten their families, escaping starvation, desperation or economic destitution in failed states. All of them are human beings looking for a chance to build a better life. I was proud to witness how New York City is working to meet them with resources and humanity, but what is absolutely clear is that more support is needed from the state and federal government to continue welcoming these men, women, and children with dignity.
We have a failed immigration system that leaves most people with only dangerous and undignified options during a time of increased forced migration around the world. That is wrong. And it is wrong that once they arrive they arenβt getting the support they need, and that our country is making it incredibly hard for them to be able to work legally.
I urge @potus to deal with the issue of our broken immigration system and to take action that will welcome people with dignity, build more safe and humane immigration pathways, and provide real help to cities like New York attempting to welcome migrants with humanity.
In the mean time, we can all play a part in offering humanity to other human beings seeking refuge. I encourage you to follow @thisisabouthumanity, @immdef_lawcenter, and @fwdus to stay up-to-date on immigration policies and to learn about volunteer opportunities as they become available.

Thank you to @thisisabouthumanity for bringing community together in service of others and to the @nycemergencymanagement @zachiscol for coordinating the visit.

Latino Power List: Trailblazers Are Carving a Path, but Institutional Hurdles Persist
βI feel a strong sense of community around Latinas in the industry that I didnβt have access to when I started out. I no longer feel alone and isolated. Even when Iβm the only Latina in the room I know I have a community at my back and that thereβs so many of us paving the path together,β Ferrera told TheWrap.
Congratulations to @americaferrera π
