What we are experiencing is a sort of cis lash where Black men, since the civil rights movement have failed to lead, meaning if you ask them, they are the ones who have been God ordained to be leaders in the Black family unit and the Black community. But we still have not crossed that line of liberation…So many Black men see liberation as capitalistic success, as financial success and not actual freedom for women to actually have freedom outside of their control, have queer people have freedom outside of their control. So what you are also seeing here is that our true liberation is coming from queer and trans people, queer, black and trans people. We’re the ones who are at every Black Lives Matter rally as well. All of the intersections of social justice, you’re realizing that whether it was Bayard Rustin, whether it was Marsha P. Johnson, like there’s so many of us, James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, there’s so many of us who our queer politics have been what has been the key to set us free. And I think what is really eating the girls up that their keys are not working. Here’s your Buddhist Breadcrumb for the week on “Time & Capacity” – I’ve talked about this often with my friends, but this has really been one of those helpful #Buddhist lessons for me personally. Often we ask ourselves, when is the right time to do something? To take action or to speak up? In #Nichiren Buddhism, the time is always now, no opportunity wasted. But what varies is the capacity, both our own capacity and the capacity of the environment and the people in it. So one way to make the most out of every single opportunity is to take a second and assess the time and capacity. Do the people that you’re engaging with have the capacity to take in all that you have to offer? How much time do you have? Or energy or capacity do you have to offer? Because sometimes we can pour into people that have the capacity and sometimes we find ourselves pouring into people who don’t have the capacity to receive what we’re trying to offer. But with practice, you can become a person who is in perfect measure with their response to life and to the people in your lives. So this week, I want you to make the most out of each moment by taking a second to assess your capacity and the capacity of the environment that you’re in, and then take action to do the best of your ability. No opportunity wasted. #NMRK @nowangelicapodcast
