Annie Lennox Instagram – Dear Friends… This is a VERY HARD message to share, but I feel it’s essential to stay aware of what STARVATION as a weapon of destruction actually looks like. This precious young boy is Yazan Al Kafarna, who was forcibly displaced from Gaza to the city of Rafah. He is on the verge of death, due to lack of food and oxygen in hospitals and health care. As a result of the Israel Gaza conflict, the entire health care system has now totally collapsed.. @savegazaschildren is an NGO dedicated to supporting the children of Gaza with life saving emergency medical care. Annie Lennox Instagram – Last night at the @greencarpetfashionawards, I had the honour of presenting the outstanding labour rights activist, fellow @thecirclengo Ambassador and friend @kalpona.amber, ‘The Messenger’ award for her work in campaigning for worker safety, fair wages and the right to labour unions for garment workers. Kalpona began working in garment factories in Bangladesh aged 12, where she experienced pay poverty and abuse. Her experience led her to become a game-changing labour rights activist. Kalpona’s vital work has supported garment workers across the world by holding fashion brands and organisations accountable and amplifying the voices of the women and girls affected. ‘’If there is injustice, someone can always stand up and speak out. Why not you?’’ – Kalpona Akter. The messenger award honours ‘an exemplary communicator and listener who amplifies truth in a way that changes the game for others’, and Kalpona is changing the game for garment workers across the world.
