Aurora Culpo Instagram – When fear knocks at your door, send faith to answer and no one will be there.

During my divorce, I lost so much sleep worrying about things that never ended up happening. I dreaded breaking the news to my kids that mom and dad would live in separate houses. When I finally mustered up the confidence to have that conversation with them, their response was: “Cool. Can I have a cookie?” 😑

I worried about how I would support myself alone, live solo for the first time ever and start from scratch on a life I never prepared for.

After a year of living together WHILE divorced, dragging our feet toward the inevitable, I finally moved into my own place. It hurt to leave behind the home I had designed every inch of, with so many memories as a family, and into a smaller rental which was not at all my ideal space.

I knew things could go one of two ways: I could be a victim, or I could turn this shit into a Phoenix rising from the ashes🔥. I made a pact with myself that first day in my new place, August 4th, that I would feel every emotion fully & cut out everything I had used to numb: alcohol, xanax, (chocolate chip cookies could stay).

Many days I didn’t see the a light at the end of the tunnel. However, I knew from experience that if you lean into faith, the universe will always meet you half way. I started my podcast & my career took off in ways I could have never imagined as I put one foot in front of the other with an unwavering single mindedness on strength and faith. ( & @doc_amen to get off adhd meds)

My relationship with my ex hasn’t been smoothe sailing every day, but we both made the choice to show a mutual respect even on the days we don’t fully feel it. We choose to lean into the shared love for our kids and an understanding that how we speak about eachother and treat eachother is potentially the greatest gift we can give our kids.

Of course some days are a bitch but if there’s one thing I’ve learned these past few years it’s that worry doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles, it takes away today’s strength- and we are so much stronger than we ever could have known ❤️
