Dekh ke thand lagi? 🤪 I went to Norway in 2019 for the first time and saw people jumping into almost frozen river that goes through Oslo and then going for a sauna session (these saunas were floating on the river btw how cool); I was intrigued!! Cold plunge or shock therapy is supposed to extend your life expectancy along with obviously so many other immediate benefits!! Tag someone who can’t swim 🤪 Mere Papa itne badiya swimmer hain, and naturally he wanted to teach me and my sister, but hum sirf chhap chhap karke vapas aa jate the 🤣 I NEVER wanted to get over this super irrational fear of the water… kya zarurat hai, ek hi toh cheez se darti hun… Then I realised what a big oppurtunity of experiences I was missing out on!! And decided what the hell!! When we went for our first dive, I wasn’t able to go below 4m, BAS 😭😭 I wasn’t able to equalise, and even 4m was PAINFUL! I was almost certain mere se nahie hoga… So my instructor told me the most logical thing- “complete the confined water sessions, and then complete your course later…” that was heartbreaking 💔 In the next confined water session, somehow I managed to equalise, and decided ki chalo open ocean dive karke dekhte hain… And then dheere dheere I saw the depth increase on my dive computer- 5m.. 6m.. 7m.. 8m… 9m… 10m… 😭 I did it 🧿❤️ I literally came back up and started crying ❤️🩹 CORE MEMORY ❤️🩹 This was genuinely the BEST thing I’ve done for myself! Learning an adventure skill, and getting over a LIFELONG fear!!!! Like the cold? 🤪 YEARS of trial and error, and I think I’ve finally perfected it!! Mujhe pehele itni thand lagti thi, but I was always determined to go to even colder places!! I only like it when the temperature is below 0, maybe I need help, maybe I don’t 🫨 Here’s all my layers- 1. Good quality warmer base layers- I wear the heat tech from Uniqlo; I’ve worn the ones from decathlon for years (they’re very affordable) but they wore out for me very early. 2. Fleece Layer- swap this with a sweater or a fleece jacket (I’ve worn Columbia before- but I’ve worn it out too much) if you will. Get this either from decathlon or Uniqlo, they’re both good 🥰 3. Down jacket- wearing one from Uniqlo here- wildcraft has one good ones too! 4. A water resistant jacket- Tbh the small shops in Leh market have really good stuff! I’m wearing one from Uniqlo here- it’s pretty warm! 5. Miscellaneous (but vv important)- neck warmers are the best hack for cold places- PLEASE GET ONE! Decathlon chale jao for this!
