‘I’ve been down so long I pay rent to the floor’
LITTLE ROPE is out ioday.
All the mud and yuck of our lives and the sour sickness of grief is on this album. But so too is the desperation to latch onto whatever shiny moments we happen upon in life, to devour and feast on the love we’re given and return it twofold.
Thank you to my friend and bandmate @corintuckerband, who does the lion’s share of singing on this record, the most she’s done since the Dig Me Out days; she’s never sounded better. During the months when I felt dimmed and misshapen, I really needed to hear her voice. After all, it’s bigger than I am. Since we started this band when I was 20 and she was 22, @sleater_kinney is a world we built together that helps me feel less alone.
‘Don’t Feel Right’ is for my friends who kept reaching out when all I wanted was to disappear. Thanks for giving me a home to which I could return when the fog cleared.
I hope this album provides a means for the listener to get where they need to be: out, in, through, towards, away.

Our Frayed Rope Sessions EP is out now on all streaming platforms, and the mini doc with each performance and song breakdown is up on our YouTube channel now.
We wanted to step back into these songs, reimagine and revisit them, both for ourselves and for the listener. The different arrangements expose the songs anew, getting at their core or the outer edges. Frayed Rope was a way for us to travel through the songs and perhaps arrive at a different destination.
