The United States is unique — not bound together by ethnicity, nationality, or religion, but by a common aspiration: that you can come from humble circumstances and do great things. Let us celebrate today our freedom and extraordinary set of institutions, and each continue to strengthen this great experiment that is America.
Happy #FathersDay to all those who deserve recognition and celebration this special weekend. My father, John, led an extraordinary life. Guided by his faith in God and belief in human progress, he was an evangelist for education and a powerful voice for equity, making the world a better place through his mentorship of young men and women and his resolve to bridge seemingly impossible divides. He was also the most loving father and husband, devoted to providing a safe and happy home with my mother and always supportive of my dreams. He fostered in me a love of sports, history, and country. Though I miss him and my mother every day, they remain by my side through their everlasting guiding presence.
Today the sun has set on the longest reigning monarch in British history. For more than 70 years, Queen Elizabeth II led a life entirely dedicated, not to herself, but to the service of her country and subjects. Her Majesty remained always a steady hand, even throughout the most trying of times. Our hearts both break for and stand in solidarity with our British friends during this historically sad day. May God bless her memory and may she rest in eternal peace.
Sometimes diplomacy is hard, as you often need to build consensus with people with whom you disagree, but it’s an important skill that you can use in whatever you do. It was an honor to teach a Masterclass with my dear friend Madeleine Albright, as we shared lessons from our lives on building bridges, holding boundaries, managing difficult situations, and applying history to the challenges we faced. I hope that our course will serve as a resource for developing diplomacy in everyday life and leading others.
On this solemn day, may we always remember those we lost as well as the extraordinary bravery we witnessed. Our nation is resilient. Let us come together once again to address the challenges we face and work toward the ideals that unite us as Americans.
This week we welcomed back to the @hooverinstitution Secretary @mikepompeo86 for our fall meetings. It was great to discuss current national security and foreign policy issues together. (📸: @prezfotog

It was an honor to be named 2022 Ambassador of Golf by the @pgatour. I came to golf later in life, not picking up a golf club for the first time until the summer after I became Secretary of State. However once I hit a driver, I knew I found a new sport. Golf is a sport that provides wonderful opportunities on and off the course, brings people together, and helps to bridge differences. To be an envoy for golf is a privilege, and it’s a joy to connect others with the sport.
It was a special day, joining the @broncos organization as part of the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group. Football teams can be a source of unity, common purpose, and pride, and I look forward to again being a part of the Denver community and all that the Broncos mean to it. The organization has a heritage and tradition of winning, and the goal now is to build on that, and to continue it in a way that makes for a bright future. Go Broncos!

As part of @stanfordgsb’s Women in Management series, it was a pleasure meeting with eight remarkable young women graduating from @stanford this weekend. We discussed how to address the most difficult challenges of today and the best ways to effect change. It’s encouraging to see the determination of our next generation to be active in the world and for their belief in what is possible. They give us all great hope for the future.
It was wonderful to host again the Stanford Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament this weekend in support of breast cancer awareness. Congratulations @stanfordwgolf on another impressive team victory, and thank you to all who participated!
It was a pleasure to join so many remarkable students at Duke this week for an engaging conversation on US foreign policy and national security. It was particularly special to meet Condoleezza Dorvil, who aspires to work in foreign policy as part of the next generation of strategists. It’s inspiring to see the passion in our emerging leaders to advance ideas and effect change for a brighter world.

Today we recognize the service of our Veterans and their families. May we come together to honor and serve them in our daily lives, and commit ourselves to strengthening America in their example. Thank you for your service. #VeteransDay
Visiting Pebble Beach is always a highlight of each year. Thanks to my @attproam partner/Stanford’s @mavmcnealy, and @max.homa and Ryan Lance for a memorable couple of days. And congratulations to @wyndhamclark for winning the tournament and setting the Pebble Beach Golf Links course record.

Each academic year, the @hooverinstitution’s National Security Affairs Fellows mentorship program brings together @stanford students with distinguished diplomats and military officers who spend the year at Hoover conducting independent research in their fields. Led by my colleague Amy Zegart, the program provides students wonderful opportunities for mentorship and leadership training. It’s great to spend time with those from the program, who inspire confidence in our next generation of leaders.

In a new episode of #UncommonKnowledge with Peter Robinson, recorded at Birmingham’s Westminster Presbyterian Church where @condoleezzarice ‘s father once preached, childhood friends Mary Bush, Freeman Hrabowski, and Rice herself reflect on their upbringing in 1950s and early ‘60s Birmingham, Alabama; provide first-hand accounts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s leadership in the civil rights movement; and their memories of the four girls who were tragically killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in 1963. #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #mlk #jimcrow
