This script? I’m just so moved and inspired by my friend and I am BURSTING with unbridled happiness for Megan. This film was perfection. And it doesn’t hurt that her genius husband @tylerhilton created a gorgeous score.
There was a standing ovation. I cried. The warmth and nostalgia and collective admiration that people expressed as we all filed out of the theater…….magic. I loved overhearing people rave about Megan tonight. She deserves it. “I know her!” was my line of the night. And I’m so deeply proud to know her.

Once upon a time there was a little girl who felt completely adrift in the big, mean real world. So she hid out behind stage curtains and in the warm glow of dressing rooms, and got to invent a whole new reality for herself – one of song and witty dialogue and applause.
Theatre saves kids’ lives. It saved mine. So I’m grateful to the grownups who fostered those experiences for me.

And so now that I have a child who has found himself in the same sets and showtunes, I want to help protect those sacred spaces!
April 14th, come join me for “The Dressing Room Diaries” at @rbkcenter . This beloved institution in my town has really suffered from the loss of a large donor, and so rather than do any conventions this year, I’m just gonna do a ticketed event to raise money for them.
Wanna meet and greet? Get a backstage tour from members of the company? Taste locals goodies from @twinstarorchards and @samuelssweetshop ? Get previews of upcoming performances? Join my Drama Club and do theatre games and act out scenes together??
We are gonna have a wild afternoon of fun onstage and behind the scenes. And it’s a really small space, so every seat is up close and personal.
I really hope I see you there.

Dinner and a Show!!!
So when @nikolainiceguy moved up, these kind of weekends were exactly what I was dreaming of. Last weekend we went to @rbkcenter to see Cabaret with Gus, and we had dinner at my friend’s amazing restaurant @lepetitbistrorhinebeck . (Go get the oysters!) Super fun night.
This weekend, we went and saw @meangirls to cheer on @busyphilipps (who is for real the nicest and definitely a “cool mom”.) and then went to see my pal @sergiarebraca at @riverandpost_ny .
Flashback to 2018 during the peak of Gus’s “Phantom of the Opera” obsession. Serge owned the restaurant Liberty in Rhinebeck and they had this incredible basement space that he transformed into the Phantom’s lair for Gus‘s eighth birthday party. He DJed and catered the whole event and it was hands-down, the coolest kids’ event I could imagine. Hell, it was the coolest, grown-up event I could imagine.
I love living in a community with thoughtful, creative and talented people like this, and so it was really fun to go and see him at @riverandpost_ny with a much taller Gus in tow.
The food was fabulous. The decor was fabulous. I was really happy to see my friend @m.r.mcgrath ‘s artwork front and center! So if you’re in the area, go! I got the short ribs. And the kale salad is my favorite. His mama’s recipe.
Small business owners need all the cheerleading they can get, so I’ll proudly bring the megaphone!
