Women are the majority of people in the United States. We are the #SuperMajority
Ahead of midterms, we are coming together across issue, identity, and geography- to VOTE – and show the country that the suits in Washington do not have the power to shape our democracy. We do.

Why is it black and white pictures seem so full of information and allure, more than color…? Here Uber stylist and glamorous Madame X-ish @karlawelchstylist Welch snaps a FILM camera at… what, people? – a mirror? A night of pictures being taken of everyone there, as if there were a “there,” there. @MsSarahCatharinePaulson and I standing in the middle of that particular there. Oscars, 2023.
Impossible expression of Birthday love from my one and only – Sarah.
What a Birthday for my darling, the eve before today’s opening of #Appropriate- the play’s Broadway debut, and @mssarahcatharinepaulson ‘s return after a busy ten year absence- and what an incandescent, thrilling return, fiery and brave- in a brilliant theatre masterwork by Brandon Jacobs Jenkins @_bjj__
And yes, of COURSE I’m partial-
But you know I’m right.
My Mother, Virginia Davis Taylor, and us three children, who loved her and love her still. She is somewhere- very near.
She would be 90 today.
Much missed, never forgotten, always loved-
Ann Richards.
A true American hero.
Of all the times I’ve moved in my life, this was the easiest, most professional, and even FUN! @PeiceofCakeMoving is the best moving company, I’ll swear to it. I have no involvement with the company and I’m not being rewarded in any way for posting about them.
They have a great system designed and their crews are so good! None better than Darco and Rada, who were gentle strongmen and worked quickly AND carefully. I enjoyed their amazing efforts. If you’re a New Yorker changing digs, remember @pieceofcakemoving. The name sez it all.
Coming upon this elusive building is typical of this beautiful city where I seem to gasp at every turn.

The One ANN Only is a marvelous collection of classic and clever one-liners from the outspoken feminist Ann Richards, the forty-fifth governor of Texas. It is also the greatest collection of photographs of Ann you could ever hope to find in one place. I was especially thrilled to see so many from Ave Bonar, who was Ann’s official photographer when governor, and also a much admired poet and photojournalist with the truth telling black and white work for which she is famous. Margaret Justus has put this book together – she was one of Ann’s press secretaries and has a real sense of what was essentially *Ann*. (Both Margaret and Ann were really helpful sources for me as my research on Richards began, early in 2007.)
This book is a must have for anyone who cares about the former Governor and a perfect introduction for anyone wanting a feel of who she really was. Her impact on Texas and, really, the whole country can’t be overestimated. Nor can one measure what she means, still, to women. Her presence in the American air is forever.

At a great LA fund raiser yesterday for Beto! Thanks to generous @JamesCostos and @MichaelSmithinc with the @HumanRightsCampaign ~ what a lively gathering, and Beto in top form!
I marveled at his eloquent, effortless, fresh speech~ though obviously he has to say essentially the same thing wherever he goes. It flows so easily because he just tells the truth. He doesn’t have to remember what he said or concoct anything or spin or be careful not to self contradict…That’s the thing about the truth. No angles.
He’s not playing.
He’s the real deal.
He could win this.
New York and northeast! PBS is broadcasting ANN on March 8th – this Friday, at 9pm. We who made it are proud of this live performance film of my play. I love the idea of watching it while others are seeing it too!
Hooray for broadcast TV!!!

Two wonderful, hugely entertaining gift books for holiday presents- including the belated kind-
You won’t find a better theater book than Broadway’s Lewis J. Stadlen’s « Save Me a Seat » which uses his Hello Dolly National tour with Betty Buckley as a framework. He is a real denizen of the theatre, a huge talent with a profound understanding of the ins and outs not only of the theatre but also the business of show. His musings and downright opinions along with rich lifetime memories and a fascination with America’s theatre towns, provide the deepest reading pleasure—
And for those of you who are much taken with cats- or taken with philosophy- « Absolutes » by Robyn Lee will delight and touch and teach. Our guides are Dia, a 6 lb perfect and typically disdainful Siamese girl cat, and her fine big and beautiful boy cat companion, Fa. Interesting conversations between cats and their caretaker surprise and beguile. Equally pleasing, and UTTERLY UNIQUE, are the fabulous and plentiful illustrations, which reveal a special and original mind!
Both delicious books available on Amazon.
Attention Academy Members in LA!!! And everyone else too. Here are two chances to see @Ava DuVernay’s ORIGIN on the big screen- very worth choosing. TODAY- before nominations close tomorrow.
This film is an exquisite piece of work, profound- with many superb performances, none more moving and memorable than that of Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. The second screening, cut off in the post, is the AERO theatre, 1328 Montana Ave., Santa Monica.
