When I got an invitation to join a janazah management course. I thought about the purpose. I didnt need it at the moment but Ill go anyway because I like to learn.
So far in my life, my biggest loss was my dad.
As much as I dont want to think about it, I know the day for all of us will come to leave dunya – and I thought about my mom and then I thought about myself. What if I didnt have much time?
Whether I go first, or my mom goes first, I would rather be equipped with knowledge and skills on how to manage that moment. I would have to manage my emotions, I would have to manage family members, process, and the works.
The course covered everything. The responsibilites from the moment someone falls ill to their last breath.
A few key takeaways;
1. You can mourn, but dont wail
2. We will all leave in a white cloth – humbled me
3. Preparation is key (a janazah management kit is deff a must have)
4. Knowledge will take you far
5. Practice and remembering your responsibility is important
Most of all, throughout the process I was holding back tears. The day will come – repeated in my head while I was trying to focus.
In the end. My friend cried. I managed to hold back tears. Our family members, our loved ones, our teachers, our friends, will leave and I would love the opportunity of preapring them for the next phase.
If you ever get an invitation to learn, please do.
Extremely blessed and grateful.
Literally nothing else matters.
