Wonderful collaborators and super respectful of me as a director: I cannot thank you enough. Ironically, they all had zero expectations of attending the Oscars – even after we were nominated – a refreshing surprise since this is the hottest ticket in town and there’s a frenzy around it.
Noting we always knew that Brittany would walk the official red carpet reserved for nominees and their plus ones because of her extraordinary contribution to our film and that Juliet needed to be included for the same reason. It was a thrill to call all of the people above to let them know they absolutely deserved to be at the ceremony – especially because none of them expected it and didn’t even entertain the thought of asking – hearing their joyful shock was delightful.
I’m so glad you could all be there: thank you for the heartfelt messages you sent afterwards – I’m slowly working through them all in order to reply – but my gratitude for you knows no bounds. I can’t wait to work with you all again on the next one.
Thank you also to Jamie Donenfeld for being the *most* understanding person when I was having difficulty getting tickets. I’m glad we were able to procure extra seats for you and others to attend. Thanks also for getting my Oscar shoes with one day’s notice. You have exquisite taste.
Thank you to @colvinshona aka Mrs Doubtfire who came into my family’s life in late December. She was the bookend to my Oscars journey and took care of me as a single parent trying to do it all by carving out time for me to put in all the extra work and making sure I was fed and watered. We miss you already!
