“My grandmother took care of me when I was young. So it only made sense for me to step up and be responsible.” ❤️ On this special episode of Next Question brought to you by @capitalone, we’re highlighting the work of caregivers and discussing the hurdles and joys that come with having to care for a loved one.
Eight years ago, @chrispunsalan was one semester away from graduating college when he made the decision to be his grandmother’s full-time caregiver. About four years into his role, he noticed that there weren’t many spaces where young caregivers like himself could turn to and feel like they weren’t alone. That’s when Chris decided to start documenting his and his grandma’s caregiving journey on social media (he has 2.6 million @tiktok followers!) 🎥
Listen to the full episode at the link in my bio, or wherever you get your podcasts. And thank you to all the caregivers out there – you all are my heroes.

🚨The Alabama legislature voted Thursday to protect doctors doing in vitro fertilization from criminal or civil liability if embryos they help to create are subsequently damaged or destroyed.
Per @washingtonpost reporting, the fast action by both House and Senate on bills to shield IVF came less than two weeks after the state’s Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos are people and that individuals could be liable for destroying them. The unprecedented decision, which gave fertilized eggs the same protection as babies under the state’s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act, threw IVF treatment in Alabama into turmoil.
The measures that passed almost unanimously in both Alabama chambers Thursday afternoon provide legal immunity “for death or damage to an embryo to any individual or entity when providing or receiving goods or services related to in vitro fertilization.”

Richard Lewis, the beloved comedian and actor who was also known for his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, has died. He was 76. 💔
Lewis’ rep Jeff Abraham confirmed the news in a statement to @people on Wednesday.
“Comedian/Actor Richard Lewis passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles last night after suffering a heart attack,” the statement read. “His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship and support and asks for privacy at this time.”
Lewis had previously announced his Parkinson’s diagnosis in April 2023 after dealing with it privately since 2021, retiring from his comedy career as a result.
Lewis was best known for his trademark self-deprecating humor, which he showed in countless standup performances and TV and film roles. He held a long-standing role on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, appearing in more than 40 episodes between 2000 and 2021. He was also known for being a regular guest on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Howard Stern Show.
Lewis’s Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Larry David paid tribute to his friend in a statement to @hbo saying, “Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he’s been like a brother to me. He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him.”

More scenes from Alexei Navalny’s funeral service in Moscow, which took place today under tight supervision from the Russian authorities, who have arrested hundreds of mourners at memorial sites since Navalny died. Outside the church and cemetery, thousands of people gathered and chanted “Thank you, Alexei,” and “Russia will be free!”
After a procession to the cemetery, Navalny’s coffin was lowered to the Frank Sinatra song “My Way,” and then the final song from “Terminator 2,” which Navalny considered “the best film on Earth.”
Alexei Navalny’s wife Yulia, and two children, Daria and Zakhar did not appear to be present at the funeral. Yulia posted a statement on X today dedicated to her husband: “Lyosha, thank you for 26 years of absolute happiness,” she wrote using her husband’s nickname. “I don’t know how to live without you, but I will try to make you up there happy for me and proud of me.”

🚨The Smokehouse Creek fire, a fast-moving wildfire burning through the Texas Panhandle, grew into the second-largest blaze in state history Wednesday, forcing evacuations and triggering power outages as firefighters struggled to contain the widening flames. The fire had spread quickly to at least 500,000 acres since igniting on Monday, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, and was uncontrolled, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration on Tuesday for 60 counties, activating state resources to help local firefighters and urged residents to limit activities that could create sparks.
In Oklahoma, local officials told some residents of Ellis and Roger Mills counties, near the state’s western border with Texas, to leave.
Near Amarillo, a wildfire was burning north of Pantex, a plant that disassembles nuclear weapons, officials said. The plant paused operations and ordered nonessential personnel to evacuate.
This is a developing story with updates to come.

📢 Crowds filled the streets of the Maryino district of Moscow on Friday, chanting “No to War” as Alexei Navalny’s funeral took place. Navalny was due to be buried at Borisov Cemetery.
Footage recorded by @mediazzzona shows people near the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God, where the funeral service was held. People were also seen crying, throwing roses, and thanking Navalny’s mother Lyudmila, who attended the service.
The cause of Navalny’s death in an Arctic penal colony on Feb. 16 remains unexplained, but reports say his death certificate states “natural causes.” The longtime critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin was serving a 19-year jail term on charges of extremism.
Navalny’s supporters, his widow Yulia Navalnaya, and world leaders including U.S. President Joe Biden have accused Putin of being “responsible” for his death. The Kremlin denies involvement and has slammed any suggestion of it.
Memorials have been scheduled for Friday evening in towns and cities around Russia, as well as abroad. The Kremlin has warned unsanctioned gatherings in support of Navalny would be illegal.

I spoke with Theresa Cardinal Brown Director of Immigration Policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center to try to gain a better understanding for all of us of the forces at play. Thank you Theresa!
Global leaders expressed grief and outrage after Israeli forces were accused of opening fire on a crowd of Palestinians hoping to get food from aid trucks in Gaza City.
The Israeli military confirmed that its forces used live fire in one of what it said were two incidents, but an IDF spokesman on Friday denied they fired those seeking aid and blamed most of the deaths on a stampede.
The US is scrambling to salvage cease-fire and hostage negotiations following the incident, with several administration officials, including President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken, making calls to their counterparts in the Middle East.
