Lauren Tsai Instagram – My new print, “Ending Song,” will be available on unrealinc.com beginning Monday, March 18th at 6PM PST (3/19 10AM JST) for 24 hours only! The print is 19.5”x 26” and printed on 310 gsm archival paper. Each will be numbered and signed by me.

I wanted to share a bit about this. I began “Ending Song” in 2021 while living in a friend’s guest room and feeling the desire to create another large painting before Tokyo. At the time, l’d felt distant from my dreams and self in a way which terrified me. But, an old idea resurfaced, leading me to combine various images – industrial towers from the beach I drove to most nights, crows from my hometown, and Astrid who is always there. This painting was both a start and promise to myself. What I started in LA hung in my four temporary apartments in Tokyo and loomed in the peripheral, remaining unfinished after a long hiatus from work, finally finding itself in my current residence. In mid-2023, while slowly returning to work, I revisited the painting. It struck me that leaving it unfinished would condemn it to representing an unfulfilled dream, one that was still deep within and necessary. I taped it up one last time. While painting, I felt near to the “me” who wanted so badly to make this years ago, and felt how much I’d changed since starting. “Ending Song” is a years-long beginning, a small piece to a vision I will continue to chase, and a promise kept. I’m grateful for this time and this painting which has followed me so long.
