Designing a space for Parvathy Thiruvothu, the actor, balancing her transient lifestyle with comfort is a big task. The architect chooses to work with what’s already there, rather than starting from scratch, to make Parvathy feel at home. Flexibility is key, with features like a Tetris-inspired library that can be changed around to suit her needs as they evolve.
The design aims for simplicity and relaxation, with personal items that have been passed along in the family and favourite plants adding warmth. Privacy is important too, with strategic elements ensuring she feels safe and peaceful. Colours are kept to a minimal with grey and brown from natural elements outlining the space only to be livened up through pop of colours through artworks and certain rooms by a change of colour for the walls.
Nature is woven into the design, with fruiting plants and a balcony mango and passion fruit plants adding beauty and promoting well-being. Parvathy’s love for plants brings life to the space.
Ultimately, the design creates a timeless sanctuary where Parvathy can find comfort in the midst of her busy life.
