Happy Saturday good people! It’s been a minute. I’ve been dealing and healing and I’ve missed this community so much. How’ve you been? How’s your heart? How’s your mind? I spent such a beautiful evening yesterday celebrating International Women’s Day in the company of amazing women at @ikigainairobi’s Hanashi event. Tracie @miss_gachie and I got to share our stories in a wonderful conversation moderated beautifully by our friend, @itsslayo, and afterwards spent time connecting with the ladies in attendance. What a lovely space that was. Thank you Ikigai, for making this possible and providing such a lovely space to truly see and celebrate each other. I’m eternally grateful for the women in my life. Those that came before us, those that are here with and around us, those that inspire us, challenge us, hold us, love us, and bear witness to our lives. Tap for outfit deets. Still processing. Still no words. But for now, please join us to celebrate the brilliant light that Charli was. Homie was a super nova for real. As we find ourselves in the final stages of honouring and commemorating the life and legacy of our beloved Charles ‘Charli’ Ouda, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support during this poignant time. Please take note of the following events marking the culmination of our tribute to Charli: Today, February 13th, 2024 – Fundraiser: Join us for a fundraising event at the Higher Trinity room, All Saints Cathedral, beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 – Cortege Departure: The cortege will depart from Chiromo Funeral Home for an overnight vigil at the family residence. Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 – Creative Economy Memorial Vigil: In recognition of Charli’s significant contributions to the Creative Economy, an evening vigil will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This gathering offers a dignified space for members of the Creative Fraternity and Charli’s friends to honour his memory. Let us stand together in unity as we ensure that this week serves as a fitting tribute to the enduring legacy and impact of Charli. ❤️✨🕊️
Thank you @nomadafricatravel for having me as guest editor for the Hot List issue of Nomad Magazine, one of my favorite Kenyan publications. This definitely pushed me way out of my comfort zone, but I’m glad and grateful that it did. In this issue I speak to some of my favorite people doing amazing things, and I feature some of my favorite Kenyan businesses and brands. I even curated a Kenyan music playlist, just for this issue. If you haven’t yet, grab yourself a free physical copy (2nd link in my bio for a list of where to find them), or read it online via the 1st link in my bio. And for those that have read and shared pictures and thoughts with me, thank you so much. 🙏🏾

Last Sunday, Guka went on his way, and on Friday we laid him to rest. What a man. What a privilege to know you and to love you. Thank you for the laughs and all the stories. I’ll ongeza extra nyama every time. And I’ll think of you whenever I get home and spend an extra hour in the car reading and scrolling. Rest well Guka. This past week has been a difficult one to process, actually this year has just started really heavy. But, I am grateful. For the gift of family and friends and community.

What a year it’s been! Today’s IG Live was about celebrating some of our favorite creators and campaigns of 2023! Honestly, we didn’t even manage to scratch the surface, and there are so many we didn’t get to speak about, but for us, anyone who showed up bravely and shared something is amazing in our eyes. We could have kept going for hours! I was taking notes as we went but honestly the list is LOOOOONG so instead, tag your fave creators/ entrepreneurs, business owners in the comments below and share what you appreciate about them! Thank you for joining us on our IG Lives this year. We have learnt so much, and shared even more with each other, and we can’t wait to see what 2024 holds! Happy New Year and see you in 2024! Terembe and Patricia! The Creator Chama. 🤗
Wishing you and your loved ones peace, love, joy and all of the magic the holidays (and books) bring! Thank you for being here, Chasing Paper Books. 📚🎄✨
For a year filled with heaviness, confusion and mourning, I’m surprised and grateful to sit with a lightness of being I haven’t experienced in years. Who would have thought that I’d be meeting the unknown that’s to come with such excitement. Things look drastically different from how they did a year ago, but I’m rooted in the surety that the best is yet to come. That I’m deserving of it all. Honoring the grief for what was with a deeply rooted joy for all the growth and love that I’m engulfed in. Who’d have thought? 😌 Happy holidays, homies. Wishing you joy and love.💛✨ Gratitude is a must. Thank you for your daily anchors @morganharpernichols.
