전 2021년 KAIST 문화기술대학원 초빙석학교수로 임용된 후 카이스트 남주한 교수님과 함께 ‘조수미 공연예술연구센터’를 설립해 인공지능(AI) 기반 음악 합주 기술을 활용한 무대 공연, 가상의 목소리 연구 등을 자문하고 아바타와의 공연 및 교내에서 열린 기술 공연 시연에 조금이나마 보탬이 되려고 노력해 왔습니다. 앞으로도 시대가 요구하는 ‘과학기술과 문화예술의 공존’ 을 위해 더욱 열심히 뛰겠습니다.
오늘이 있기까지 최선을 다한 카이스트 졸업생들에게 승승장구를 기원하며 다시 한번 이광형 총장님과 카이스트에게 감사의 말씀 전합니다.
Today, I received an honorary doctorate in science and technology at the graduation ceremony held at KAIST.
I am so happy and honoured!
After being appointed as a visiting professor at KAIST Graduate School of Culture and Technology in 2021, I established the ‘Sumi Jo Performing Arts Research Center’ with KAIST Professor Nam Joohan to conduct research on stage performances and virtual voices using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. We have been exercising carious AI technique and methods to achieve high level of performances with avatars and provided technical demonstrations on campus, aiming to contribute to the ‘coexistence of science /technology and culture/arts’.
I wish success to this year’s KAIST graduates, who have worked hard to reach this milestone, and I would like to express my gratitude to President Gwanghyeong Lee and KAIST once again.
