Im 73, my hair is white, (a gentler way to say gray), and it takes me a while to get out of bed in the morning as Tony listens to my symphony of sounds and cracks!!! That is the main reason that I HAVE to stretch, lift weights, my attempt at Yoga, power walk 4 days a week and make healthy food choices! @itstroyjensen an extraordinary photographer that I worked with, gently suggested to me to stop coloring my hair and be who you are! These two photos are me plain and simple, no makeup, no color in my hair! As a matter of fact this photo was taken behind the salon where my hairdresser and friend @craiggangi took this photo after he cut and styled my hair. Cristina Ferrare Instagram - Seven years ago, today I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, cancer of the plasma of the blood. I was told that I had 2 years to live. After extensive research I found Dr. Amrita Krishnan MD. A top multiple myeloma specialist affiliated with City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center. She conducts groundbreaking research in myeloma. I underwent a stem cell replacement with a one month stay in the hospital. My maintenance team of nurses and caregivers at U.C.L.A. in Thousand Oaks keep me alive & kicking! After 7 years they are a second family. Patty was the first nurse from day one of my diagnoses who has walked me off the ledge many times I love her. I actually look forward to going for my treatments, I feel safe there especially with the wisdom and care from my oncologist Dr. Samuel Slomowitz. My thanks to everyone! Cristina Ferrare Instagram - The yummiest Corn Soup from @cristinacooks 🌽 so delicious and comes together in a flash. Sadly we did an Instagram live today and it was so much fun and then it disappeared into the Instagram ether 🫣can’t find it, can’t post it, so bummed about that…let us know if you’d like us to do another live some time-or if you prefer the reels. - CORN SOUP: INGREDIENTS 5 ears of fresh corn in the husks 3 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil  2-medium leeks 8 scallions, set aside 3 scallions 2 Tablespoons dry Sherry 1 quart of organic vegetable broth 1-1/2 cups organic coconut cream 1 teaspoon kosher salt and cracked pepper INGREDIENTS FOR THE GARNISH 1 small jalapeno, sliced thin Sliced scallions  Red pepper chili flakes Extra virgin olive oil  Balsamic glaze (available at food markets and Amazon) finely chopped basil, Italian parsley and chives DIRECTIONS Heat a medium size stockpot over medium high heat for 30 seconds. Add olive oil, leeks, and cut up scallions. Sauté for five minutes.  Add the sherry, remaining corn kernels, salt, pepper and mix well.   Add the vegetable stock, coconut cream, stir. Now add those three corn cobs you set aside. Cover with lid and bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer 30 minutes. Remove corn cobs.  Pour the soup into a blender and blend for one minute until smooth and creamy. Arianna is not pregnant. Since March she has had 2 Miscarriages and three weeks ago had an emergency procedure that was life threatening and had to have her left Fallopian tube removed! Cristina Ferrare Instagram - Tony and I spent the afternoon over the weekend at U.C.L.A to attend a childhood cancer fund raiser, “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at one year’s old. At 4 Alex set up a lemonade stand in her yard to fundraise for children with cancer. She raised over $2,000 dollars! By the time of her passing at 8 she raised $1million dollars and left a legacy of hope to help cure childhood cancer! Her family continued the yearly fund raiser. Sadly we did an Instagram live today and it was so much fun and then it disappeared into the Instagram ether 🫣can’t find it, can’t post it, so bummed about that…let us know if you’d like us to do another live some time-or if you prefer the reels. - CORN SOUP: INGREDIENTS 5 ears of fresh corn in the husks 3 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil  2-medium leeks 8 scallions, set aside 3 scallions 2 Tablespoons dry Sherry 1 quart of organic vegetable broth 1-1/2 cups organic coconut cream 1 teaspoon kosher salt and cracked pepper INGREDIENTS FOR THE GARNISH 1 small jalapeno, sliced thin Sliced scallions  Red pepper chili flakes Extra virgin olive oil  Balsamic glaze (available at food markets and Amazon) finely chopped basil, Italian parsley and chives DIRECTIONS Heat a medium size stockpot over medium high heat for 30 seconds. Add olive oil, leeks, and cut up scallions. Sauté for five minutes.  Add the sherry, remaining corn kernels, salt, pepper and mix well.   Add the vegetable stock, coconut cream, stir. Now add those three corn cobs you set aside. Cover with lid and bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer 30 minutes. At 4 Alex set up a lemonade stand in her yard to fundraise for children with cancer. She raised over $2,000 dollars! By the time of her passing at 8 she raised $1million dollars and left a legacy of hope to help cure childhood cancer! Her family continued the yearly fund raiser. You can read about this remarkable child and her family at “Alex’s Lemon Aid Stand” Great Chefs from all over the country come to this event every year to cook and share their extraordinary cuisine! I was inspired, moved and humbled by the experience.I did however eat my way through the whole event! #childhoodcancer #alexlemonadestand #cancer #fundraiser
