Dilruk Jayasinha Instagram - It’s the 1 year anniversary of the morning I was “over cautious” and went to the hospital with an easily ignorable tiny pinch in my left arm, only to find out I was actually having a heart attack due to an 80% block in an artery nicknamed “The Widowmaker”. A year ago I didn’t see anything funny about what was happening to me as they put a stent into my body, but thanks to all the care and support from my loved ones, health professionals (both mental and physical) and you folks who follow me, I’m very proud to get a spot where I’m able to tour what I think is my funniest standup show yet about the whole terrifying experience. So raise your Philly cheesesteaks and donuts in the hope that I won’t need to do a comedy show about my health for a fair while ❤️‍🩹🤞🏾

What truly bizarre feeling to describe moments of that day to the very person who executed it all! Thank you to Daphne, Julia & especially Amanda for carefully placing my artery bling! And though as a competitor I didn’t make it through the first round in my attempt 12 years ago, I took the scenic route and was over the moon to be asked to be this year’s host! It was good reminder of 2 things; 1) never give up on your dreams 2) the judges sometimes fuck up and get it wrong 😜! Silliness aside I was completely blown away by the standard of the performers and I’m worried about my job security with such incredible talent that’s headed their way to takeover the Australian comedy scene.
