Caption : Interview in Vogue Scandinavia, link in bio. The fashion industry is a huge contributor to the climate-and ecological emergency, not to mention its impact on the countless workers and communities who are being exploited around the world in order for some to enjoy fast fashion that many treat as disposables. Many are making it look as if the fashion industry are starting to take responsibility, by spending fantasy amounts on campaigns where they portray themselves as ”sustainable”, ”ethical”, ”green”, ”climate neutral” and ”fair”. But let’s be clear: This is almost never anything but pure green washing. You cannot mass produce fashion or consume ”sustainably” as the world is shaped today. That is one of the many reasons why we will need a system change. Photo by Alexandrov Klum @alexandrovklumofficialLikes : 961020

The world needs to speak up and call for and immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected. The toy in the picture is a tool often used by autistic people as a way to communicate feelings. We are of course against every type of discrimination, and condemn antisemitism in all forms and shapes. This is non-negotiable. That is why I deleted the last post.Likes : 769983

When enough people come together, then change will come and we can achieve almost anything. So instead of looking for hope – start creating it. Caption : Today I got my first COVID-19 vaccination dose. I am extremely grateful and privileged to be able to live in a part of the world where I can already get vaccinated. The vaccine distribution around the world is extremely unequal. According to New York Times; “84 percent of shots that have gone into arms worldwide have been administered in high- and upper-middle-income countries. Only 0.3 percent of doses have been administered in low-income countries.” No one is safe until everyone is safe. But when you get offered a vaccine, don’t hesitate. It saves lives. #VaccineEquityLikes : 716320

Caption : Deadly heatwaves, floods, storms, wildfires, droughts, crop failures… This is not “the new normal”. We’re at the very beginning of a climate and ecological emergency, and extreme weather events will only become more and more frequent. After the catastrophic recent developments – especially in Western Europe – everyone seems to be talking about the climate emergency, and rightly so. But as soon as these tragedies are over we’ll most likely forget about it and move on like before. Unless we treat the crisis like a crisis all the time, we will not be able to halt the climate emergency. People in power are now trying to act responsibly, saying lots of beautiful words. Everyone seems to forget that they are the ones responsible for putting us on a pathway towards a several degrees hotter and destabilized planet. Caption : Right now our so-called leaders are meeting in Glasgow at #COP26. They use greenwashing and fancy rhetoric to make it seem like they are taking real action and that they care. All this while people are literally dying as a consequence of their inaction. They are already seeming to give up on the 1,5°C target. But we can not let them get away with that. Time is running out. Change is not going to come from inside these conferences unless there is big public pressure from the outside. So everyone who can, please join the fight! Come to the climate strike this Friday (Kelvingrove Park 11am), and the climate march this Saturday (Kelvingrove Park 11.30am) to make your voice heard. And I am school striking for the climate until election day.” This is what I wrote exactly 3 years ago – August 20th 2018 – during the first day of the school strike. 3 years later I am still here, but alongside millions from all over the world. Since the first school strike the world has emitted over 120 billion tonnes of CO2. The changes necessary are still nowhere in sight. The climate crisis has still never once been treated as a crisis. But people are waking up and demanding climate justice. And we will always continue the fight for our future and present. We simply have no other choice. #FridaysForFutureLikes : 512651

Caption : 2023 was the hottest year ever recorded. Climate disasters, wars, oppression and inequalities further intensified – killing and displacing countless people. 2023 was yet another year where people in power fought to maintain their violent business as usual by using dangerous lies, hate speech and greenwashing. There seem to be no limits to the lengths they go to defend the exploitation of people and planet for their own gains and profits. They ignore the science as well as the screams of their own children and the most affected people. All this while many environmental defenders and activists were killed. But 2023 was also a year when people once again filled the streets, resisted, defended their lands and fought for their rights and freedom. It was a year where many showed global solidarity and stood united in the fight for climate justice. Activists are as needed as ever, even though we are experiencing increased repression all over the world. We are exhausted, but we are also full of love and rage. We cannot allow things to continue like this. Let’s make 2024 a year of mobilisation, solidarity and accountability. 📸 @misanharrimanLikes : 466815

Caption : School strike week 251. Today, I graduate from school, which means I’ll no longer be able to school strike for the climate. So for me this is the last school strike, so I guess I have to write something on this day. When I started climate striking, in August 2018, I could never have expected that it would actually lead to anything. After striking every day for three weeks, we were a small group of children who decided to continue doing this every Friday. And we did, which is how Fridays For Future was formed. Some more people joined, and quite suddenly this was a global movement growing every day. During 2019, millions of youth striked from school for the climate, flooding the streets in over 180 countries. When the pandemic started, we had to find new ways to protest. With time, we started to get back on the streets again. We are still here, and we are not planning on going anywhere. So much have changed since we started, and yet we have so much further to go. We are still moving in the wrong direction, where those in power are allowed to sacrifice the most marginalised and affected people as well as the planet in the name of greed, profit and eternal economic growth. They are continuing to destabilise the biosphere and our life supporting systems, and we are rapidly approaching potential nonlinear ecological and climatic tipping points beyond human control. And in so many parts of the world, we are even speeding up the process. There are probably many of us who graduate who now wonder what kind of future it is that we are stepping into, even though we did not cause this crisis. Those of us who can speak up have a duty to do so. Everyone counts. In order to change everything, we need everyone. Of course I’ll continue to protest on Fridays, even though it’s no longer technically school striking. We simply have no other option than to do everything we possibly can. The fight has only just begun. #FridaysForFuture #SchoolStrike4Climate #ClimateStrikeLikes : 463976

And the truth is that we are basically not doing anything apart from “creative carbon accounting” and creating loopholes. What some call ”climate action” is actually outsourcing and excluding consumption, setting vague distant targets, burning biomass instead of fossil fuels and excluding the emissions, offsetting, switching from one disastrous energy source to a slightly less disastrous one etc. 📸 (Dixie fire, Capt. This is the biggest story in the world, and it must be spoken as far and wide as our voices can carry, and much further still. Thank you for your support! It’s a solid (but cautious) summary of the current best available science. It doesn’t tell us what to do. It is up to us to be brave and take decisions based on the scientific evidence provided in these reports. We can still avoid the worst consequences, but not if we continue like today, and not without treating the crisis like a crisis. Graph by World Meteorological Organization.Likes : 371068

Caption : In the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon, for the second time in two years, the OCP pipeline has ruptured, spilling crude oil into the Coca and Napo rivers. For the 27,000 Indigenous Kichwa living downstream, this is a compounded nightmare. This spill could have been prevented, and this pipeline amidst the fragile Amazonian ecosystems should never have existed as we are well aware of the threats these pipelines make up. The Ecuadorian government talks of an “ecological transition”, but has still vowed to double the country’s oil production. It is time for governments to take real actions against the climate crisis and environmental disasters. Green slogans will not save us, and we will not be fooled. A case brought after the first OCP spill in 2020 by the affected Kichwa communities is currently before Ecuador’s highest court, and it is essential that the Constitutional Court urgently resolve this case to ensure that environmental disasters like this do not occur again. Go to the link in my profile and tell the Ecuadorian Court that the Kichwa, and the Amazon, cannot wait any longer for justice! #KeepItInTheGround #PeopleNotProfit #SOSDerrameAmazonía @amazonfrontlines @confeniae @conaie @alianzaceibo @nemonte.nenquimoLikes : 328367

We cannot remain silent during a genocide. #StandWithGaza #FreePalestine #CeasefireNowLikes : 320586

Caption : We need climate activists now more than ever. After a summer full of extreme weather and shattered records, the world is still gearing up towards climate catastrophe. People all over the globe are already experiencing the first hand consequences of this crisis, and it will get much worse unless we radically change course. The world leaders have proven time and time again that they are not going to “save us”, rather they spend their time creating conditions to benefit themselves and big destructive industries. It now falls on us to step up. Everyone who has the possibility to speak up and take action have a moral obligation to do so. On September 15th we will once again strike for climate justice, to #EndFossilFuels . We need you to join us! Caption : For five years now we have been striking from school every Friday to protest and demand climate justice. We were born into a crisis that we did not create. It is shameful that the responsibility to act falls so disproportionately on children and youth, because the people in power and adults fail to step up. Even though many of us are privileged, we should not have to do this. But we have no choice. If we have the possibility to become activists, that is what we have to become. Giving up will never be an option, there is simply too much at stake. People are already losing their lives and livelihoods, due to the climate crisis, and it will continue to get worse until we take real action. We can no longer let the people in power get away with sacrificing people and the planet for their own gain. That is why we keep showing up every Friday, and will continue to do so. We are the change we want to see in the world. Join us and get organised, because we need you in this fight. 📸: @haglund.albin on yesterday’s climate strike in Stockholm.Likes : 252213

Caption : I started striking from school on August 20th 2018 ahead of the Swedish general election. It has now been 4 years since then, and a new election is on its way. We are still here, but the climate crisis is still absent from the debate. The most affected people from the most affected areas are still being silenced. The people in power still seem to be spending all their time distracting, delaying and denying the necessary changes ahead of us. The emissions of CO2 are not reducing – they are still increasing. The world is still expanding fossil fuel infrastructure and pouring astronomical amounts of money into destruction. We are still speeding in the wrong direction. There is indeed a long way ahead of us – but we are still here and we are not planning on going anywhere. As the new election in Sweden is getting closer, we are again raising our voices, and we need you. Join the strikes on the 2nd and the 9th of September to send a message to the people in power that we will not be silenced – so save the dates! Only voting is not enough – we need to also go out on the streets and actively demand change. They speak to flowers and forests in the language of US dollars and short-term economics. They hold up their quarterly income reports to impress the wild animals. They read stock-market analysis to the waves of the ocean, like fools. We are approaching a precipice. And I would strongly suggest that those of us who have not yet been greenwashed out of our senses stand our ground. Do not let them drag us another inch closer to the edge. Not one inch. Caption : Week 285. This week, we are unable to have a climate strike. I am one of 5 climate activists currently having a trial in London for peacefully protesting against a fossil fuel conference back in October. This peaceful demonstration aimed to highlight the terrible consequence of the everyday business of fossil corporations. These companies are destroying and destabilizing the biosphere and climate, and the life-supporting systems we all depend on to survive. They have displaced and destroyed countless people’s lives and livelihoods. We don’t have the laws to keep the carbon in the ground and ensure dignified and safe lives for present and future generations. Even though we are the ones standing here, and climate-, environmental- and human rights activists all over the world are being targeted for their activism, prosecuted, sometimes convicted and given legal penalties for acting in line with science, we must remember who the real enemy is. The actual crime is committed by the very industries and companies we are acting against. We have the truth on our side, and we have morality on our side. In time, this will be revealed. #FridaysForFuture #ClimateJusticeNow #ClimateProtestIsNotACrime #ClimateStrikeLikes : 199148

The Norwegian government has granted a permission to pump 2 million tons of toxic mining waste into the fjord annually. This will impact the local fisheries that are essential to the Sea Sami culture and will be yet another attack on them from the norwegian state. The mining company Nussir ASA has planned a mine in the mountain in the middle of reindeer guottetbáiki (where the calves are born), which therefore is crucial for the reindeer. There is currently an activist camp at Riehpovuotna and many people are resisting. Caption : As the COP29 climate meeting is reaching its end, it should not come as a surprise that yet another COP is failing. The current draft is a complete disaster. But even if our expectations are close to non-existent, we must never ever find ourselves reacting to these continuous betrayals with anything but rage. The people in power are yet again about to agree to a death sentence to the countless people whose lives have been or will be ruined by the climate crisis. The current text is full of false solutions and empty promises. The money from the Global North countries needed to pay back their climate debt is still nowhere to be seen. The host country – Azerbaijan – is a repressive and authoritarian petro-state that has committed ethnic cleansing and genocidal acts towards Armenians. Civil society present at COP29 are being silenced, yet continue fighting and pushing negotiators towards the bare minimum. All this while oppression, inequalities, wars and genocides all over the world continue to intensify. Those in power are worsening the destabilisation and destruction of our life supporting ecosystems. We are on track to experience the hottest year ever recorded, with the global greenhouse gases reaching an all time high just last year. It is clear that our current systems are not working in our favour. The COP processes aren’t just failing us, they are part of a larger system built on injustice and designed to sacrifice current and future generations for the opportunity of a few to keep making unimaginable profits and continue to exploit planet and people. With every negotiation, with every speech made by a world leader and with every agreement they sign, it becomes clear that it is up to us as a global collective to take the action we so desperately need and show where the leadership truly lies. They are not going to do it for us, as this COP29 yet again proves. #COP29 #PayUp #ClimateJusticeNow 📸: @filippa.paperinLikes : 193142
