Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom Instagram - A statement from Buckingham Palace:

During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.

🐒 HRH was welcomed to one of the most remote inhabited islands by Jonathan the Tortoise, who, at 191 years old, is the oldest living land animal in the world!

Born in the reign of William IV, the Seychelles giant tortoise has lived through seven British monarchs, with King Charles III becoming the eighth monarch of his lifespan so far.

⬅️ HRH is not the first Member of the Royal Family to have met Jonathan, who previously spent time with King George VI, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II (when she was Princess Elizabeth) and Princess Margaret in 1947.

During his time on the island so far, The Duke has also...

⛰️ Viewed the spectacular sights of Jacob’s Ladder, a 699-step staircase that leads to Ladder Hill Fort.

πŸ‘‹ Met members of the local community at Grand Parade.

πŸ§‘β€βš•οΈ Heard about the important role that the Princess Royal Community Care Centre plays for local residents and saw the Centre’s cornerstone, which was laid by The Princess Royal during her visit in 2002!

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom Instagram - β€œI would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days.

As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.

It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world. My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom Instagram - The determination and strength of the Ukrainian people continues to inspire, as the unprovoked attack on their land, their lives and livelihoods enters a third, tragic, year.

Despite the tremendous hardship and pain inflicted upon them, Ukrainians continue to show the heroism with which the world associates them so closely. Theirs is true valour, in the face of indescribable aggression. I have felt this personally in the many meetings I have had with Ukrainians since the start of the war, from President Zelenskyy and Mrs Zelenska, to new army recruits training here in the United Kingdom.

I continue to be greatly encouraged that the United Kingdom and our allies remain at the forefront of international efforts to support Ukraine at this time of such great suffering and need. My heart goes out to all those affected, as I remember them in my thoughts and prayers.

🧸 Olivia’s Coronation teddy bear Corrie, who travels with her everywhere, was a guest of honour.

At 17-months-old, Olivia was diagnosed with a large brain tumour, causing permanent blindness. Since her diagnosis, Olivia has been receiving regular treatment, including chemotherapy. However, none of this has curbed her infectious enthusiasm or love of singing.

🎡🎢 Along with the Bexley Music Primary Choir, Olivia performed a carol as part of His Majesty’s Christmas Broadcast.

Happy Christmas Olivia - and thank you for all the joy you bring! β™₯️

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom - 1.1 Million Likes - A statement from Buckingham Palace:

The featured Christmas tree was donated to Croydon BME Forum and Macmillan Cancer Support’s β€˜Can You C Me?’ project and will be placed in the Royal Trinity Hospice, Clapham, the oldest hospice in the United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom - 181.2K Likes - The determination and strength of the Ukrainian people continues to inspire, as the unprovoked attack on their land, their lives and livelihoods enters a third, tragic, year.
