Many of you know that I love pizza so much, that if you wake me up in the middle of the night and ask me if I’d like a slice, I’ll say YES. Kenny used to have it delivered to me while we filmed The Gambler. When I “sang” with Kenny, he assured me that no matter how I sounded, they could fix me in the studio. I trusted him completely. He was such an incredible singer and songwriter. But the truth be known, even though I would be dubbed, I still had to perform the song. I’ll never forget those moments as I belted out, way off-key, while Kenny stayed in character, holding a straight face, and all I could feel was his love. Caption : This was John Rockwell and me in a pilot called “Buttons”. The studio dyed my hair brown and it fell out! That’s when Sydney Guilaroff, a hair stylist in Hollywood’s Golden Age, decidedly made me a blonde. MGM didn’t pick up the series, but it changed my life because they put me under contract.
