Raine Maida - 2.1K Likes - Time that’s lost can’t be found again. Damn. Where does the time go. Exponential when you have kids . Everyone growing up so quickly. Seasons changing. 15 yrs since I released The Hunters Lullaby. Feels like 15 minutes. 15 years! 1500 flts, 15,000 hours in this studio. Raine Maida - 1.8K Likes - Incredibly sad to hear of Eddie Van Halen’s passing. We spent an incredible summer with Van Halen supporting them on their Balance tour across America. 55 shows in 1995. Eddie instilled a work ethic & perfectionism that we could only aspire to. He came into catering always with a guitar on. Hit the stage 3 hours before the other guys joined for soundcheck & never missed a note night after night . Alex, Sammy & Michael we’re all equally talented but none took the details as seriously as Eddie. I will never forget the day Sammy & I disagreed about my role as a frontman & kicked us off the tour in Texas only to learn Eddie & Alex had our backs & kept us on. We watched their show from the stage every night. I Don’t know if i ever told Eddie the first concert i ever saw was Van Halen at Maple Leaf Gardens with my cousin Nick on their 1984 tour. Ed’s musical legacy can’t be touched. True original in every sense. Musical genius who always let the song rule. Rare. So much more i could express...this is all stream of conscious as i absorb this sad reality.

Raine Maida - 1.7K Likes - Found it fascinating that through the pandemic a lot of us relied on our favorite old albums and songs for comfort . I don’t think I listened to any new music. Facts. As much as the musician and fan in me was interested my heart wasn’t. So I didn’t . Tried a few times . Nah.
didn’t sit well with me. Binged so many new series on Netflix, Hulu, HBO etc. guess those are escapes without the same emotional commitment and investments. After all ,they are actors playing a role. No matter how good they are it’s never lost on us that it’s make believe. Music isn’t make believe. At its best it’s as raw and real as it gets. I guess I always knew this but it took the pandemic for me to truly absorb the power & value of a 40 minute piece of grooved plastic. There’s def some science here.
Certain frequencies , isochronic tones , some waveforms all scientifically proven to help heal but it’s that reassurance of better times, deep memories that heighten the feeling of being alive. Protects our souls. Heals our hearts . What a fantastic drug. I’m writing this @5:45 am so won’t get too heavy but... damn. Thank you Jeff Buckley. Thank you Nick Cave. Thank you PJ Harvey,Thank you Soundgarden, thank you Ennio Morricone, thank you Daniel Ceasar, Deftones, TVOTR , thank you Lana Del Rey,Radiohead, RATM. thank you Frank Ocean, thank you Julien Baker,
