Ty Pennington Instagram - From the red carpet, to the ICU… this last week has been interesting! I’m okay now, still recovering but I felt it looked weird that I hadn’t posted about my teams #BOTB VICTORY!! 🙌🏼 SO freaking proud of @smashingdiy & @iamstevelewis !! Will post about that next 🤓🥳 To shed some light on why I was MIA… Sunday I hit the red carpet for @barbiethemovie , monday I flew to Colorado to start filming in Breckenridge and Tuesday morning I woke up at 4am and could barely breathe 😰Turns out, that sore throat Ive had for the last month was actually an abscess which had grown so large it was closing off my airway. Next thing I know, I was intubated and flown to the ICU in Denver. Wednesday I had surgery and yesterday afternoon I was released from the ICU 🙌🏼 Thank you so much to all the amazing staff at St.Anthony’s in Lakewood, CO & Summit Health in Frisco for taking such great care of me 🙏🏼🙏🏼 A great reminder to LISTEN to your body when it’s telling you something 😳😅 #justhappytobehere Also, even through heavy sedatives it’s good to see I was still in the right frame of mind… (pic 4)😂 #speedosforlife

I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of some incredible projects in the past 🙏🏼 I didn’t think I would find (or want to find 😆) a bigger mountain to climb…. even designing and building my own house in Florida. Nothing seems to compare to the overwhelming feeling of pride and emotion of completing @theotisbuilding . It may have been the thousands of steps, up and down the stairs over the last 3 years, or maybe finally seeing the skyline view (from the peak) that makes this projects completion feel like Everest. One thing is for sure, this project is “TOP of Line” 🙌🏼 All the design finishes were purposely chosen to reflect the historic past and it’s current reimagined present. The mountain analogy is painfully real 😂 After catching our breath from so many trips up and down, the journey conditioned us to never give up… even when it felt like it was just too big of a summit to reach, when oxygen and patience were running low… we relied on our team. Everyone held the line, and we kept moving upward! I know this sounds a bit cliché but honestly, it’s the biggest mountain I’ve ever climbed. An 8 unit residential loft building with 2 roof top mezzanine penthouses as well as 2 retail spaces- in one of the coolest, most creative neighborhoods in Atlanta. Yes… I could’ve (should’ve) made a TV show about this journey (and trust me it would’ve been GOOD ha) but sometimes, just embracing the true reality of the experience is more enlightening. Next thing I know, I was intubated and flown to the ICU in Denver. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of some incredible projects in the past 🙏🏼 I didn’t think I would find (or want to find 😆) a bigger mountain to climb…. even designing and building my own house in Florida. Nothing seems to compare to the overwhelming feeling of pride and emotion of completing @theotisbuilding . It may have been the thousands of steps, up and down the stairs over the last 3 years, or maybe finally seeing the skyline view (from the peak) that makes this projects completion feel like Everest.
