So we’re at the park and Oli has been obsessed with the older kids practicing with their basketball coach. He kept trying to sneak into the layup lines.

VIP night at Club Balfour 🔥 #Dadlife #Dancing
My heart mourns for the victims of #September11 at home and also abroad. The ripples of 9/11 go far and wide. I hope and pray that we continue to look inward and ask why did this happen and how can we change the world with love so it doesn’t happen again? And please remember there are first responders who are still fighting for their lives and health because they cannot get the help they need.
Building beach pools never gets old. I can’t imagine my son not being able to do this with his kids someday because our beaches and oceans are so polluted that they are unsafe to play in. Please do your part. Cut down on single use plastics, stop drinking from plastic water bottles and follow @surfrider @healthebay @seashepherd and @oceana to learn more! 🌊
#repost @michaelmuller7 ・・・ CLIMATE CHANGE is a LIE. We have NO issues on this Planet. Use more plastic, burn more fossil fuels, chop down more of the amazon to raise cattle for fast food, it won’t have any affect on the planet. What is your CORE BELIEF? What do you need to witness to change it?
#repost @lonelywhale ・・・ It can be hard to imagine that by the year 2040 we could see 29 million metric tons of new plastic enter the ocean every single year, but what if we visualized this on our turf? Wading through a vertical sea of plastic on our way to the subway would surely drive us for change. This is why together, with @tomford x #52hz we will #unwrapthefuture. If you are a scientist, entrepreneur, designer, or artist who has ever dreamt of changing the world by creating something good, this is your moment. Applications for the @TomFord Plastic Innovation Prize are open through October 24th, 2021. The prize will catalyze the use of scaleable, biologically degradable thin-film plastic alternatives. Winners of the Tom Ford Plastic Innovation Prize will be capable of producing scalable thin-film plastic alternatives that can help address the plastic crisis facing our environment. #52HZ is accepting applications to THE @TOMFORD PLASTIC INNOVATION PRIZE until October 24th 2021. Submit your application at plasticprize.org. The link is in our bio #Artivism animation by: @maestro320v
#repost @shannonrwatts ・・・ “‘Oh my God! One is dead!’ a woman screamed as she arrived at Mount Tabor High School, minutes after the call of shots fired at the school.” Today in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a high school student shot and killed William Chavis Raynard Miller Jr., also a student. The shooting was the second this week at a North Carolina high school; two days ago, there was a similar shooting in Wilmington. We don’t have to live like this. Our children sure as hell shouldn’t die like this. Text ACT TO 644-33. 📸 @wsjournalnow #momsdemandaction #studentsdemandaction #everytown #northcarolina

#repost @healthebay ・・・ In a disappointing decision, the LA Regional Water Board recently greenlit the continued degradation of local waterbodies through the stormwater system. They had the unique opportunity to improve the stormwater pollution MS4 Permit during its decadal update, but instead chose to adopt the ineffective 2012 version with loopholes that allow pollution with no penalties. The Water Board is supposed to preserve and enhance water quality for present and future generations. Instead, their actions continue to excuse polluters. The insufficient accountability for polluters only further delays water quality progress in our region. The job of holding polluters accountable once again falls on us, the concerned community members and local nonprofit watchdogs. Read more at the link in @healthebay’s bio.
#repost @healthebay ・・・ We are shocked that LA Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) has continued to release inadequately treated sewage into the Bay. It’s been over two weeks since the 17 million gallon sewage spill, and we are now learning that the Hyperion plant is not able to fully treat sewage. The LA Regional Water Quality Control Board has taken immediate action to boost monitoring in the Santa Monica Bay. The LA County Board of Supervisors and LA City Council members have initiated a full investigation into the 17 million gallon spill and continued discharges from Hyperion. Our full statement, which includes more details about these big updates and the @latimes article, is at our link in bio. Check out our “Sewage Spill” Highlight to catch up. Is it safe to swim in the Bay today? If you are deciding whether or not you should go into the water at LA’s beaches this weekend, we want to be clear: there are potential health risks at some locations. Water quality tests from sites across the Bay have indicated high bacteria levels around El Segundo, Dockweiler, and Venice beach areas. These beach areas are under an advisory and should be avoided until tests indicate the water quality is good. If you are heading to other areas in the Bay, we recommend that you check the latest beach conditions at the LA County Department of Public Health’s website and Heal the Bay’s Beach Report Card (so you can avoid beach areas impacted by bacterial-pollution issues). Conditions can change rapidly, so pay attention to beach postings and remember there is a 24-hour lag between water testing and posted warnings. Message us if you need any help getting started with our Beach Report Card website and app — or if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out and we’ll do our best to get you an answer.

#repost @healthebay ・・・ Coastal Cleanup Month is here and it’s all about Healing Our Watersheds! Join Heal the Bay’s Coastal Cleanup Month presented by Portland Potato Vodka and Ocean Conservancy in Los Angeles County this September for our biggest cleanup of the year. Our dedicated volunteers removed 40,101 pieces of trash from our neighborhoods, parks, trails, and beaches last year. Together we’ve tracked more than 4 million pieces of trash picked up by volunteers at LA County beaches to date, and this informs and influences public policy and business practices. Take part in self-guided beach and neighborhood cleanups all month long. Do them anytime and anywhere to take part. Plus, all Heal the Bay volunteers who sign up for self-guided cleanups this September will receive 15% off our Heal the Bay Shop. Let’s go, LA! Artwork by @kdwoggle
