Jake Graf Instagram – Last week’s Cass Review has naturally caused great concern among trans young people and their families across the UK, and it is clear that the review has ignored much of the lived experience of these young people, drawing conclusions designed to prevent young trans people from living freely, happily and authentically.
We all knew that the media and government had been pushing this for a long time and that this is the result of a long campaign of lies, misdirection and hate.
We know who we are and our young people know who they are. Increased visibility has meant increased numbers of young people who are able to come out and live their truth, and sadly that has meant a backlash against our tiny community and an unethical disregard for the needs of those young folk.
Once again, all I can offer is that I also struggled horribly with puberty and the ensuing physical and emotional changes, and despite over a decade of abject misery am now living as the man I have always known myself to be.
The bigots continue to deny my existence and that I knew who I was from age 3, and that shows more about their spite and ignorance than about who we know ourselves to be.
To all of our young people: stand tall and stand proud. You will get to where you need to be. Stay strong.❤️🏳️⚧️
